Friday 8th May 2015 - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning all xx Hoping for a slightly quieter day in work today and so glad it's the weekend tomorrow and I'm not on call.

    For today...

    - Breakfast in my bag for work - some biscuits. It's not in the slightest bit healthy but I had no inspiration and fighured that some jammie dodgers weren't a far cry from the breakfast I sometimes buy in for emergencies like this :rotfl:
    - Lunch in my bag for work - jacket spuds, cheese and beans
    - Snack in my bag for work - some popcorn from a microwaved bag (4 for £1 in Home Bargains)
    - Tea made in work

No unplanned spends today - Mr Shortie is going to get loft boarding bits today so that we can finish the loft space off

Congrats on reaching Debt Free Ally!!

    Good Morning!

Thanks for the start, Ally and Congrats!!!! :T

Another quiet day for me. OH has disappeared off to Twickers for the Army Navy match tomorrow. Just me and the boys for the weekend.

This morning I've done my first "big" shop at Al Dee. Discovered a while ago a friend went there, so I tagged along (I don't drive, so rely on Home Delivery usually). Quite impressed with what I got. Save quite a bit compared to Mr T. I still have a delivery due from him tomorrow, though. I can get some bits cheaper there.

    The rest of the day,..
    • Finalise Mr T shop
    • Start work on bulk cooking meals for month
    • Tidy up a bit, maybe.
    • Update sig with Al Dee shop

Not a lot, but I am going to see a work friend for a catch up and a gossip, so I'm up to speed on the goings on at work when I go back Tuesday. Then I have to go to the School to [STRIKE]suffer[/STRIKE] enjoy the VE Day Celebrations. Then dinner and getting the boys ready for cubs. Busy girl today!

Hope you all have good days. :)

  • Hi everyone!! Ally congrats on being debt free, what an amazing feeling it must be!

Well I've done quiet a bit already today, but expensive today, £15 in a pound shop  but got decorating bits aswell as cleaning bits to do some decorating next week, amazing how much cheaper diy things are in the poundshop!

Hung washing out to line dry - save on tumble drier!
Received a voucher from the crisps company for a £4 lunch I won! Only treated myself the other day and won! Don't mind that hey!
Need to start a diary or a thread for my ambitious aims!

Hope everyone has a lovely day
Desperate to save and clear debt
New start, new control, new aims
Even getting my head around the technology

This is lovely - I also believe in a little bit of Karma and sometimes it's the small things that can make someone's day :)

Well done on becoming debt-free Ally :T That must be such a good feeling, well done!

Today has been a mixed day for me:

I've finally managed to get through to the Tax Credits Specialist team and they have finally agreed with me, accepted all of my proof, apologised and have closed the case. Now have to wait for them to send out new paperwork so I can open up a new claim, so it will take a while as they are 'extremely' busy, but at least it is sorted and will be backdated.
The downside is that all of my joints have been sore today, even lifting the kettle has hurt my wrists. Phoned the docs and bloodtests have come back normal, but that doesn't explain my pain so have to go back to the docs and see what they say.
I have checked our online banking, put the new insurance documents in the car and have put a lamp ready for someone to collect later. Really want to go round the house sorting, cleaning and tidying today but just don't have the energy.

I hope you all have a great weekend :D

    Hi all

Still recovering from being ill. Called into A@da and dithered for ages about whether to get a normal cheap lightbulb or an energy saving long lasting one!! Bought the energy saving one in the end.

Oh and I have found a really good barber who cut DSs hair for half the price we normally pay and he made a really good job. Ridiculously pleased about the money saved.

Need to update my spreadsheets but I think I am doing OK, even with the £20 school trip that was unexpected.
