This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine
Morning all,
Dull and grey here but meant to brighten up later, I had a real struggle getting out of bed this morning and was longing for it to be Saturday.
Looks like we are in for another conservative stretch ! No surprise really but Not the result I would have wanted.
Off to work for me I am so glad its Friday, I am exhausted this week I have already told OH no cooking for either of us tonight so we are having a curry delivered we are both too tired !
The woman re the dog fostering has not called me back yet, she has done this twice now, phoned in a desperate panic to place a dog I agree and then hear nothing back, will wait and see what happens ! I do think I would have trouble letting them go though and would want to keep every dog that came here
I swear I am going to turn into an old crazy dog lady surrounded by dogs !
Need to do a wash tonight and that will be my lot !
Have good days all xx
Elona big hugs love xx
Sistercas nice to 'see' you posting, how is your mum ? xx

Morning All
In a rush, forgot I was going north for the weekend! Had a quick flick round with the cleaners, DD will be here so had to do some shopping for her last night too.
Have a good weekend, hope you are all well. Take care. XX0 -
Good morning all,
Thank you RR for starting today's thread.
It is a lovely morning here let us hope it lasts.
Elona you did so well yesterday, sometimes you just need to be on your own, as good and as kind as family are. I remember when Dad died my sister and I stayed with Mum until the funeral and then she said we must go home now and get on with our lives, and to be honest I am sure she just wanted to be on her own with her own thoughts.
Sister and BIL are coming this morning for coffee, but we have to go to Mr. T first for a few bits.
Have a good day all

Good Morning all,
I do hope everyone is well, if not then , you have my very best wishes.
Rain is forecast for later so going to put the laundry out soon.
I have my usual Friday chores list to get through and some more prep work in the kitchen prior to the painting. I would also love time to do a freezer tidy and inventory with a view to restarting menu planning.
Shopping delivery tonight so i will have to put all the groceries away.
hope everyone has a great day.
Regards:j0 -

Elona thinking of you xx0 -
Morning everyone.
A bit of a late start for me, no idea why. I just slept later and only woke up because of the need to wee. I can't remember having to wake up during a long lie in as a teenager!
Very disappointed by the result in Scotland but the people have spoken.
The sun is out again and I hope the wind has died down. I get awful wind freeze on my forehead and I want to go for a walk.
No shopping needed here. No washing needed here. Just a tidy of our bedroom though I suspect a cull of ( my) belongings is more in order.
Elona - it was lovely to read your post last night. Well done on the way you are dealing with events. Memories are the key to coping.
Dumpling - where are you? Hope you are OK.
I've got some online stuff to start today so had better get a move on.
Happy Friday everyone.0 -
Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
So Dave and Sam Cam are keeping their home, not the result I would have wanted. Now we have to see if the blues break as many promises as they did last time.
A bright morning, sunny still quite a breeze though, we are forecast rain later.
Friday clean to do, did not do it last week as OH had to got for an INR, so an extra flip round this morning. I need to tackle a couple of marks on the carpet, one near the kitchen door and one at the top of the stair.Kitchen floor will also get an extra scrub.
No plans for the weekend, except to have a long lie tomorrow and Sunday. I am feeling exhausted again.
DD2 expected after lunch, she goes away tomorrow for a week in the sun and starts her new job when she gets back. We will take her home and carry on to the library to change our books.0 -
Morning all,sun beginning to peep through down here in Kent.
Just been for swim whilst dough is rising for focaccia. Have 6 for dinner tonight, lots of laughs on the menu with this particular group too. Have got a bit of prep to do in a minute, after of course coffee and a catch up on here.
Hugs to all those who need themCarolbee0 -
Very disappointed with the election results. Not what I wanted to see when I woke up this morning.
Today is laundry day, so will be stripping the beds and washing everything, as well as trying to make headway on my knitted quilt.
My poor tortoise is desperate to go outside, but the weather here has taken a turn for the cold. Hopefully it'll brighten up over the weekend and he can go hurtle round the garden.0 -
Morning :hello:
No Labour win then? Looks like we're stuck with Katie Hopkins
I was warned that terriers usually have one thing that seems to shut off their hearing when they see it, don't worry if you think he's ignoring you, he literally can't hear you. Just remove the thing, or remove you and the dog, his focus will turn back to you. All great til last night, when neighbour 1's cat was sat in neighbour 2's front garden. Can't brick up my windows, can't get remove the cat, can't remove us from our own house. None of the usual distractions worked, I could physically make him stop and sit for about three seconds then he was off again. Was advised to ignore him and when he realises the barking isn't making the cat go away, he'll stop. I shut all the windows, went outside and checked no-one could hear the racket and let him get on with it. He kept going for an hour – it was actually longer than that but I'd stopped counting - and only stopped when he'd worn himself out. I sat and read my book but really wanted to curl up in the corner and drink wine straight from the bottle :rotfl: I'm going to have a word with neighbour 2 and ask if they'd mind if I squirt water into their garden, near the cat, to try and get rid of it. They'll be fine with it I think, they hate that it keeps using his garden as a toilet. I'm going to seach for more terrier forums and see how other people have managed to sort this out.
This morning, he's back to normal. He hears me open the back door and comes running down the stairs, trots beside me as I walk to the chicken run and waits at the gate while I let the chickens out. He watches them all come out of the shed – no barking and very relaxed - moves to one side so I can get back out then trots back up the garden with me. He also waits so I go through the door first, whether I'm going in or out. Comparing last night to this morning, you'd swear it was a different dog.
I have a few things to do today, tying up the tomatoes, some weeding, etc. but I haven't even got dressed yet. I'm just sat here enjoying the peace and quietMr tru wants to nip to the shops, we'll probably take Scampi, we can have a long walk while he buys whatever it is he needs.

Good Morning everyone, another grey and cool one here today, I'm going to the library and the greengrocer this morning and then not much else planned for the day.
TRU we had Border Terriers for years, we actually had two together and the only effective stopping mechanism we ever found was a spray bottle of very cold water, I used that on Docky too when he was a pup and took to creeping up behind me and letting out a huge bark. I sprayed it at thier face every single time they barked, it doesn't take too many full on between the eyes sprays (it is only water, won't hurt them one bit) and a severe NO to make them aware that they are doing something unacceptable. I haven't used it on Docky for 10 1/2 years now but still the sight of the bottle is enough to send him straight behind the sofa and lay down. It might help, and it certainly won't hurt Scampi. The bottle I used is one of the misting bottles you can get to spray ironing, usually a few pence from a chemist/hardware shop. I think it's the noise it makes as much as getting wet, might be worth a try? Lyn xxx.0
