ie. Any points or claims your named drivers have will have to be disclosed to your insurer, and any adverse changes (like points/claims) will affect your policy premiums.
Also ensure that any named drivers you have know to tell you about any new claims/points etc they experience at any time they are on your policy so that you can inform your insurer.0 -

You have to disclose all their claims/convictions/points etc when adding them to your policy and then notify your insurer of any new claims/convictions/job changes/notifiable medical conditions etc they get (again irrespective of which car they were driving when the incidents happened)
You must also pass on to any policyholder you are a named driver with your same history, and keep them updated so they can update their insurer.0 -

When I renew next month when this incident will probably still be unresolved, obviously I put the incident as 'open' or 'unresolved', but do I operate as if I've completed another year ncd (ie 3 years next month) or do I change it to 0 despite being no outcome to the incident as of June next month?

You will have nil ncd.
You could explain to your chosen insurer the circs of the claim and ask if they will amend the premium if you get your ncd reinstated after liability has been decided.
If they agree ask them to confirm this in writing.0 -
So I'm due for renewal after this.
I called the insurer last week and nothing reported by the other party.
I put in my details with 3 yr ncd and elephant came cheapest. Payment wouldn't go through. I called them and they said the incident last month hasn't been reported but they have some 'record' of it.
I explained that I haven't made a claim and nor has the other party as I'm aware but they said I still need to report an incident. It has bumped my premium another 200 which is ridiculous.
Are elephant correct?
I tried to ring aviva to ask if a claim has been made but couldn't get through.
Why am I getting penalised for an incident I provided info about? When does this get removed from my record? Maybe I shouldn't have reported it.0 -
From #2 and throughout your thread the consequences of this has been set out for you.
Your insurer is correct - you reported the incident and even though no claim has so far ensued the incident remains on your record and you must disclose it to other insurers when asking for quotes.
You are normally asked about incidents/losses/claims over the previous 3/5 years.
Your insurer may have reduced your NCD until the matter is considered closed, so check with them over this and if it has been reduced (and none awarded for the current year) ask how long before they will consider the claim closed and restore your NCD0 -
When I last called them it appeared they were saying that my full ncd remains
So what if a claim is never brought forward? This is effectively a non incident and I'm being penalised. ...for 3-5years?!0 -
This isn't a "non incident" - unless you are now saying it never took place!
Insurers rate on your record (not just actual claims) including all your reported incidents and losses. So if no claim materialises it still must be disclosed (and will be on the shared database so other insurers will see it if you fail to mention it)0 -
I forgot to add, when I called them a couple weeks ago (which was a couple weeks after the incident ), they actually said they'd closed the file on it.
Is it therefore unusal that it's still logged?0
