Options
Hi, just moved house and desperately need some outdoor housing for my Maine Coons. Does anyone know of any cheap cat runs or just housing as I can make run myself?
Thanks, getting desperate!!

    Have you looked on ebay?
  • Yes, they are wanting £350+ for a very small run!

Hi, have you done a google search? Only ask as ive found cat scratchers cheaper via google than ebay otherwise ask a local shed maker/carpenter to make one, mind you we did this with our guinea pig run and house and still was expensive in the end.

Good luck - post if you find anywhere as im interested as we will be moving next year and our cats will need a run and house for the day time.

Being a curious type can I ask why you don't just let your cats out? Why do they need a run? Nosy ain't I ?

My OH has made a single run by making 6' x 6' panels from wire mesh. 2 large shelves and a tree-trunk for climbing/scratching. Bought a ready made wicker panel to use as a door. Ready-made kennels were too expensive!
This is big enough for just one Maine Coon, unless 2 get on really well and don't spend too long in there. My Tig spends a couple of hours a day in there because he is brainless where traffic is concerned and yet heads for the nearest road as soon as he gets out. Merlin (my avatar) is much more sensible and skinny - the only time we put him in the run, he escaped through a 3" gap!
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.

We bought from Tyes Gardening for our chickens. They're excellent value for money:-

:rotfl: I have 5, soon to be seven... I have just started showing Maine Coons and will be breeding next year. They are massive American Barn cats that can grow upto 25lb ish in weight. They look amazing but aren't the brightest!! They need to be in a run for their own safety!!
  • We got our panels to make a pen for our maine coons from

They have been up for 5 years now and cats love the run. It is 11ft by about 7ft
