United Airlines Delay

Hi

I was delayed in Columbus Ohio on United airlines flight Columbus to Newark 2 weeks ago, the flight was delayed due to mechanical issues, this meant we would miss out united connection from newark to glasgow. The flight after many delayed notices was cancelled and rescheduled for the following day. United put us up at an on airport hotel and gave us $7 voucher each for dinner. we flew out the next day to newark and then onto glasgow on the connecting flight, Im wondering as united are a non EU company do anyone think i am due compensation?

non-EU airline departing from outside the EU = no EU compensation

you could try your travel insurance, some give £20 per 12 hours for example
