December in the Caribbean

Morning all - am in holiday booking mode, so thought I'd see if anyone had any experience in solo holidays in Grenada (not Spain)? There are a few hotels with good reviews, but I wanted to see if anyone had any recent experience?
Thanks
Thanks

Masterpoo.
That could easily be the answer to most, if not all of the questions posted on MSE.
And with respect most of your questions fall into that category.;)0 -

You're like a bad rash that won't go away...............
I was suggesting it as maybe OP hadn't!0 -
Already done Trip Adviser to death! Thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone agreed/disagreed...0

I haven't stayed in Grenada, but I've met a lot of people who have and they all loved it. It's less commercialised than other Caribbean Islands and is very chilled. Its nickname is the Spice Island. I'd go for it if I were you. December is a good time to go, as hurricane season is finished and it'll be cold and miserable in this country0

Early December is a good time to go - as it gets nearer Christmas and New Year prices start to sky-rocket.November is an even better time as you'll get some good deals as it traditionally the quietest month for bookings.
Get on the mailing lists of Caribbean specialists such as Tropical Sky where there are always deals but check out whether you can come up with a cheaper deal by booking flight and hotel yourself.
I wouldn't be in a huge hurry to book now as there are very often late deals to be had especially in November.
Whilst Grenada is a beautiful island with its lush interior the capital St George's is not great with few decent bars and restaurants.
As a rule any beachfront resort is more expensive and most of them are now All-Inclusive.
I would recommend the Blue Horizons Garden Resort which is set back from but very near the best beach on the island. It's reasonably priced and all rooms are equipped with a kitchen and there's a good supermarket very close by.

I'm sure you're very aware of personal safety but as a woman you should be extremely careful travelling anywhere on your own, especially at night, anywhere in the Caribbean.
While the locals are very friendly there is a darker side to the sun,sea and palm trees idyll and drugs are a real problem.0 -
It depends on what you want. We holiday in the Caribbean three times a year, we have a house in Antigua but stay in Barbados, St Lucia and Grenada too. Last Christmas we stayed in Grenada at Coyaba Beach, undoubtably a beautiful beach and a good AI hotel but not excellent, the beds were too small for us - doubles and not kings (we booked last minute as friends arrived on the island late, otherwise we weren't supposed to be there). But the beach, Grande Anse is wonderful. The islanders are the most friendly - the history is recent and compelling, but the service isn't quite as good as Barbados.
What you might love another might hate. It depends what you want from the holiday. As a solo traveller, the island is perfect if you want history and a truthful Caribbean feel/experience.0 -
Thanks everybody! I jumped on to the BA sale and booked the Coyaba Beach as it was a really good price. I was originally going solo, but now my friend who I've been away with before has said she'd like to come so we're going together.
Can't wait!!0 -
Enjoy. You should join their FB page, it's not massive, but if you have any room requests etc, they will do their best to accommodate you.0
