O/S Daily Thursday 7th May 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

    Morning everyone

Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x

Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.

Now light, blue sky and sun shining, air feels a bit cool, but hopefully it’ll warm up and at least the wind has died off. Washing load ready to go out on the line and another now in the WM.

DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.

Dinner last night was pork steaks that I braised in stock in the oven, served with mash, veg and used the stock from the cooking pan to make the gravy – was delicious and all the menfolk said how nice it was and that they wanted more! There was ice cream or LO cake for dessert – that’s now all been eaten. Not sure what we’re eating tonight but I’ll organise that this morning.

Work yesterday was another manic day – luckily was only there until lunchtime – I was doing a different job and really needed to have another person doing the job with me but due to staffing cutbacks that can’t happen so I was stuck on my own with a queue of customers that were then moaning at how long they were waiting, not helped by the fact that so many come in without the relevant documents so we then have to spend time looking up their details and information – anyway we got there in the end and even though I was so busy I managed to balance to the penny when I finished, so I’m more than happy with that. Now on days off. Going to be going food shopping this morning so we have some food to taken away and the boys have something to eat whilst we’re away. I then need to wash, dry and iron and pack for us.
I’ll be going to vote later, when DS1 comes home from work, he wants me to go with him as he’s never voted before. Polling Station is a very short walk away – that’s the beauty of living in a village.

    Keep safe and well x

Morning one and all. Lovely start here and forecast to last! Two wash loads waiting to go on the line.

I feel so much better this morning and had a decent night's sleep thankfully. Whether the op was a success remains to be seen as I am still on anti-biotics. Time will tell when I finish those. It's all fingers crossed! Thanks for all the good wishes.

I had to let DD down with minding the 3 DGDs after school and sleepover last night, I felt that lousy. I don't like having to do that as then she has a frantic search for someone else. Luckily their dad stepped in and his lovely gf was taking them all to school this morning. She's no children of her own but she's marvellous with them and they adore her. She has their bedrooms decorated and fit for princesses - beds with organza drapes round etc. He was such an awkward b .......... when married to DD I don't know how he has managed to find someone so nice!

Think I'll do a Lasagne for tea, we've not had one for a while and they all like it. I think I have some ys garlic bread in the freezer to go with it.

Off to Aldi** this morning, with a quick pop into Iceland next door after for some salmon. On the way home we'll stop off at the voting station. Once the shopping away and had lunch there is a pile of ironing awaiting me! Jobs have been neglected over the last few days but back to it!!

Have a good day all, take care and (((( HUGS )))))) for those in need. xx

    Morning all,

Thank you nmic for starting the thread today.

TA I am so pleased you are feeling a little better, the whole procedure sounded dreadful (stretching the bladder:eek:) I hope it solves your problem because I know how horrible UTIs are.

Well no winds at the moment thank goodness. I have windows to clean today because I have ordered new vertical blinds so need nice clean windows, I have an A*da shop coming and my friend and her DH are coming for coffee this afternoon, so quite a busy day (for us).

Elona I hope you are doing OK, one day at a time and be gentle with yourself.

Judi I hope the wedding goes well and EVERYONE has a good day:rotfl:

    Much love

    Morning All

The sun is shining and the washing is whirring! DW on, I've had a couple of eggs for breakfast and made salad for my packed lunch. DD is having the pasta and hm sauce left from last night.

DD and I went for a walk after tea last night, it was a lovely evening and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It put a good score on my pedometer too!

TA - Take it easy, that's a busy day you have planned, look after yourself.
DG - Hope your relative recovers soon.
RR - The dog fostering sounds great, I would be worried that I couldn't let them go and keep them all!
    Welcome to aliama
csarina - Good news that OH can drive again.

Hugs to those not feeling so good, Elona still thinking of you.

Right, off for a shower then peg the washing out, Gers did you make the peg decision? Who knew there were so many! Take care. XX

    Morning everyone.

What a lovely morning. Such a relief after the horrors earlier this week.

Last nights session with my lovely group of adults was good even though it was a little tough for them. - it's difficult to make spreadsheets fun!

I sent off my postal vote a couple of weeks ago so that's done. And yes, Camelot, I ended up buying yellow and green plastic pegs from the local Co-op. Will probably need to use double pegs. Whirlygig not in place yet, maybe over the weekend.

Washed two of the three cotton rugs from the living room yesterday and they dried in front of the woodburner. They came up really well so I'm pleases thst we got them. And the new filter for the vacuum arrived so I got the downstairs done at last.

No idea what the day holds. Will have porridge for brekkie and then I'll root in the fridge later on.

So glad you're feeling better TA. And my thoughts are with everyone.

Hope today is good all round.
  • Good Morning everyone, we too have a much nicer day here today, the wind has dropped to a gentle breeze and we got some sleep last night too, makes for a much better outlook on life doesn't it?

Not much planned for today, He Who Knows wants to check the allotment as he put some seedlings in at the end of last week and has doubts of thier survival in the wind and a trip up to Pets *t Home for some yummy snackages for Docky are about all so a pottering day and some cooking for me. We might go on to the garden centre and treat ourselves to a Jacket Potato for lunch as we can take the hound into part of the restaurant and sit insude, very civilised.

Have yourselves a good day everyone, Lyn xxx.

  • Morning (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.

OH is driving me up the wall and down the other side. He has to renew his licence every 2 years. Filled the form in on line, he has to send his part and photocard licence back, can we find the photo card? No!!!! and its £20 for a replacement............aaarrggghhhhh I had to strip the bedroom down before I got dressed this morning, he has obviously lost it out of the house somewhere.

Better in health than temper thanks to the above.........nothing planned for the day probably a good thing as I might strangle him before he is much older, he is always loosing things, usually car keys, although he could not find a £10 note the other day, he looked everywhere but in the trousers he was wearing....it was in the pocked, no such luck with the card.

Wind has dropped and its fine, but keeps clouding over, no laundry today.

    Good Morning All,

I do hope that everyone is well, if not, then you have my very best wishes.

Weather here looks changeable but i am hopeful of getting the laundry dried.

As well as my usual list of chores i am planning to clean the very tops o my kitchen units, when they dry i will put cling film on them so i don't have to clean them again. I am intending painting the kitchen this weekend so i am hoping to get the cleaning done first.

What an awful chore but i am going to get the old clothes on and the radio on, pull the hair into a ponytail and get my marigolds on, i do hope i make it out alive.

Have a great day everyone whatever your doing

    Regards
