Sky or TalkTalk broadband

Good evening

I need some advice on choosing which provider for my broadband.

Sky

12 month contract
£3.75 per month, £16.40 line rental, £50 M&S vouchers, free line activation/installation, £99,75 cashback on topcashback.co.uk

TalkTalk

18 month contract
Free broadband for 12 months, £5 there after, £75 gift voucher, free line activation/installation, £73.50 cashback on topcashback.co.uk

I don't use landline and will be using ADSL as cannot get fibre yet in my flat area. These are only 2 companies I can go with unless I have a BT line apparently.

I heard TalkTalk is poor in customer service and sometimes download speeds varies and has a usage policy whereas Sky is consistent with the speed all the time and has true unlimited usage.

Also was a Sky customer within the 12 months at same property but shouldn't be problem as will be using somebody else's name to sign up as a new customer and on topcashback.

Thank you

I'd say go with TalkTalk as the actual broadband service will be identical from both ISPs. Both don't throttle and they are truly unlimited. Use TT forums for support and you won't have any issues. Been with TT for nearly 5 years now and have always got line speeds 24/7 and any issues (incl request for an engineer visit) have been satisfactorily resolved via their forums. After all TT have 4 million+ customers so they must be doing something right :)

You will have a BT line, so you can use any ISP you wish (not just two), except for cable-based VM. It appears that Sky and TT are the only LLU options on your exchange though.
CS on Sky is much superior-if/when you get technical or billing issues on TT you will be dealing with offshore call centres and their clueless script-readers. With Sky, CS is-UK based. If that doesn't bother you, go for the cheapest.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I can't comment on Talk Talk, but I have had Sky phone and broadband here for 3 years (they have matched deals at end of contracts). I had a major problem with my phone line which stopped the line and broadband working. Sky customer service dealing with it was very good. They kept me updated of progress and arranged for BT open reach to do the necessary work to fix it. I didn't have to pay anything towards it and I got a refund for the inconvenience. Sky offer a package that includes Now TV which is better than Talk Talk's basic TV service. Talk Talk do offer additions to their TV package but they are not cheap.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.
