I have created the VW Wall Of Shame and invite anyone who is having issues claiming on VW's 12 yr. Anti-corrosion warranty, to send me images of their corroding VW Passat, Golf, Jetta or any other model and I will display the problematic areas in the hope that it will add pressure to your claim.

The usual story VW will tell you is that your issues are due to paint/mechanical defects and hence are not covered. Or they will offer to pay 50% of the cost to repair your vehicle, under their warranty ???
VW accepted that the rust on the tailgate of my car was covered by the corrosion warranty.
Entire tailgate was replaced along with looms and resprayed. They had the car for nearly 3 weeks to complete the work.

It’s encouraging to see owners who have had their vehicles repaired without fuss. The ones of us who are dealing with VW are hoping the spin-off will be that they treat all owners in this same way and just cover the work.
It’s difficult to differentiate between those who had work covered without fuss and the ones like this example who were told they had to pay 50% of the cost.
This example isn’t as advanced. But if left it will inevitably be.

A colleague has something similar on his Passat estate.
My suggestion was to wait a little until it is more severe as it's more likely VW will replace the whole tailgate.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
The VW tpi states repair or replace affected body panels. If once the lights are removed and they find its spread beyond repair, then they replace. I guess it depends how long your friend has remaining on the 12 yr. warranty and how advanced it currently is.
I would sincerely advise anyone with tailgate corrosion to also check for spidering around the perimeter of the inner door where the outer and inner skins join.0 -
Well after a lot of Argy Bargy with VW, they finally relented and honoured their warranty. GREAT RESULT !!
Car goes into VW Sinclair Swansea Body Shop to be repaired. Three doors and a tailgate to be precise. Whilst it’s there, they notice corrosion on both front wings so decide to repair this for me also. Another GREAT RESULT.
Unfortunately, they never replaced the tailgate number plates as per the TPi, because they say that VW TPi's are "Open To Interpretation". However now that I raised the issue, they would add them to the claim and if its paid, they will order them and replace.
2nd Unfortunately, the front wings have indentation/divot like marks in them all across the wing.
Sinclair Swansea rang me to advice the claim for the tailgate lights was processed successfully and that they are on order. After looking at the images of the defects in both front wings, he concluded these are stone chips that they sprayed over. As I pretty much know every surface of the car, because I am anal like that, I know where almost every stone chip is FACT. And I know there were NONE on either wings.
I don’t know if these images will show just a small sample of the marks.

For all those who may be interested, I have updated the web site to include a sample complaints letters to the CEO of VW UK and data access request letter at the bottom of the flow chart. This suggests ways to deal with getting your car repaired 100% through the 12 yr. anti-corrosion warranty
These are only sample letters and can be used in their entirety or as a handy reference to tackle VW. The CEO complaints letter outlines the issues and points that we have argued. Although they offer no guarantee, others have used them with great success.

In light of the recent emissions scandal, VW appear to be on lock-down in the UK. A lot of the UK media have naturally focussed their attention on Volkswagens dealings with their cars and customers. This was brought to the attention by SKY NEWS who broadcast this news report at the bottom of the following page corroding-volkswagens.com/vw-the-truth/
VW are now “Silencing” customers who have fought to get their vehicles repaired under the VW 12 yr. anti-corrosion warranty.
Once the customer in question has managed to gain the offer they are happy with, VW stipulate they will only carry out the repair as long as they DONT contact either corroding-volkswagens or rustingvolkswagen or make it public on any website or forum.
VW literally threat to withdraw the offer in the event the customer goes public in ANY WAY !
It’s somewhat amusing the lengths VW go to in order to keep us all ignorant to the FACT that by questioning them, sending them Data Access requests in preparation to take them to the small claims court and sticking to your guns, you WILL get the result you are happy with.
The only person I am aware of who got as far as turning up to court to get 6 panels repaired on his B6 Passat, under the warranty, had VW settle just before it went into be heard. This would suggest VW know they can’t possibly win such cases and this alone is admission to the problem and sets a precedence to everyone else who follows.
Although no guarantee, I know the advice given on corroding-volkswagens is still shown to be a very effective method in encouraging VW to repair our cars. Also anyone who wishes advice is more than welcome to contact the website owner. As long as everyone is getting the offer they wish for, that’s all good and well and what the website is all about.
VW’S ACTION IN SILENCING CUTOMERS IS ADMISSION IN ITSELF THAT THESE METHODS ARE VERY EFFECTIVE !0 -
