If you own a Rusting VW Passat, Jetta, Bora or Golf and you have struggled getting VW to honour their 12 Yr. Anti-Corrosion warranty, then you may find the informative site I have put together useful.

This has been put together to help all and sundry deal with VW in order to get them to just repair our cars and stop fobbing us all off with defect they consider are only covered for the first few years.

It is primarily aimed at the B6 Passat, but the same principles stand for whatever model you own and you’re having issues with.

My Seat has the same rust issues and it's a 2006.
From what i remember the paint / rust warranty is the same for VW as well.

The anti corrosion warranty only applies if the corrosion happens without an impact and without the paint failing.
You also need to notify them when it happens and not let it become more of a problem.

The paintwork warranty from memory is only 2 years? Either way much much shorter.
So if the bodywork rusts, due to the paint failing since the paint is only covered for 2 years you can't force them to do much.

If the paint fails due to stone chips or similar impact / scratches, that's not covered either.

Your website seems to lack any content at present on the few links i clicked.

Nice, she must take a few by surprise.

Our golf is rocking an ABF swap which I did a couple of years ago. Bored of cars now (well fixing them at least) and now I enjoy 2 wheels, which means on sunny days when I should be dragging the mig welder out, the bike comes out instead:cool:

Yes it does. Coilovers and flipped rear axle, running on G60 steels so a real sleeper look.

Heres a thread of its history, and how it looks now

Sounds good RE: yours. would love a mk2!

Unfortunately when I bought my VW it had just passed it's 12th birthday so the rust on the roof is just going to have to stay there until the car is scrapped
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

I have created the VW Wall Of Shame and invite anyone who is having issues claiming on VW's 12 yr. Anti-corrosion warranty, to send me images of their corroding VW Passat, Golf, Jetta or any other model and I will display the problematic areas in the hope that it will add pressure to your claim.

The usual story VW will tell you is that your issues are due to paint/mechanical defects and hence are not covered. Or they will offer to pay 50% of the cost to repair your vehicle, under their warranty ???

The B6 Passat and its problems.

The B6 Passat Problems page is still under construction. So far it highlights the oil drive issues, which has cost many owners dearly. And the cause ?

Either a £5 hex pin, or the chain driven oil drive failing.

The tailgate doesn't look rusty to me.

If you look directly around the perimeter of the number plate lights you will see the bubbling. Its worse on one than the other. But this is primarily where they corrode.
