Pre-booked holiday now £450 Cheaper - what can I do?

The invaluable advice is "Never look after you've booked"
If you had bought a coat five months ago -and it showed up significantly discounted in the sales you wouldn't get a refund after all
Booking early fixes the price and guarantees you get the hotel/dates you want- waiting for late reductions can mean savings but can also mean exactly what you want has sold out and you have to compromise.
There's advantages and disadvantages to both depending on what is most important to you. If you had set your heart on one particular hotel and it was now sold out for your dates you'd be saying "Next time I'll book early" after all.
Have a lovely holiday.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
