Pre-booked holiday now £450 Cheaper - what can I do?

Hi
I booked a holiday with Neilson on 21st January. After paying my balance today I thought I would just look and see how much today's price is.
I am mortified to discover its 16% cheaper £452 less. I contacted Nielson and got a stock reply. Basically they don't care.
If I cancel I loose my £600 deposit.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do about it?

More fool me for thinking the best deals come to those who book early. Never again.

You were happy enough with the price in January, your mistake {like so many others before you} was to look at the price today. As above I bet if it was £452 dearer you would not have contacted them and offered to pay the higher price. Some you win some you loose,my other advice is look 2/3 days before you are due to go and if the price is dearer than you paid you can be pleased you did not leave it until the last min.

As others have said, it's the nature of the beast. Why on earth did you look at the price today if you were going to be mortified it was cheaper?

You have enjoyed three months of looking forward to your holiday, knowing that it was booked; the price was fixed; you were going to get exactly the holiday that you had chosen. Surely that level of peace of mind is worth something?

Alot of people book holidays in advance to allow them to make monthly payments towards getting it paid of, this making it affordable.

We have since started saving what we would normally pay monthly to pay off a holiday then looking last minute and always have plenty left over to change in to foreign currency by just waiting for some very good cheap last minute deals.

Next year you could not pre-book your holiday then post a thread complaining about the £450 you could have saved if only you'd pre-booked

There really isn't invaluable advice to give.

Some you win. Some you lose.
