That's not right - at least it isn't in my case.

When I log into My Account and look at balance I see at the top a section which tells me how much free allowance I have left and when it expires, and underneath that another section showing how many £s of normal credit I have left.

So I can log in and see how much free data allowance I have left, and top up before it runs out.

I also only see credit (£) in my account, but my last data allowance has probably expired. Is it the case that the data allowance is only displayed if it has not expired?

Yes - that's probably the case. This is what I see:

Thanks, lfc321 and itm2. My comment was about 3-2-1 usage, not bundles. 3-2-1 offers a competitive 1p/MB rate. AFAIK it's impossible to check data usage.

That's true - you can't check how much of the normal credit you've used was on data.
This thread is about using bundles and the free data allowance you get when you top up while in a Feel at Home country. You can check that.
  • For internet use in at home locations I've found that three's 50p internet daily add-on, gives you a 120Mb allowance which seem to last till the end of day following when you apply the add-on.
