We had a new kitchen eighteen months ago and replaced all the appliances with Siemens products,to date no issues and we are happy with our choice

We converted a barn 11 years ago and put all Siemens and Miele appliances in. This included washing machine (M), tumble dryer (S), integrated coffee machine (S), Dishwasher (M), American side by side FF (S), Oven (S), Induction hob (S) and grill/oven/microwave (S).

The Miele have had no problem. Most of the Siemens have been fine with the exception of the American FF which failed after 11 months, they replaced it and it eventually died a year ago. It has been replaced by a Maytag version.

The coffee machine has had numerous visits under warranty (5 years) and now out of warranty (touch wood) has been going fine - brewing probably 15-20 cups a day.

Why does everyone want an American fridge? You'll end up with an American waist line :)

To answer your jokey comment seriously :p

For a start, it's nice to have both as full height appliances - that way you can have snacks at eye level, things you use regularly at arm level, and long term storage (eg drinks or the several tons of frozen veg/chips we all acquire) tucked away at the bottom. I just find them to be very handy.

For another, they give a lot of storage for a fairly small footprint. And they look good, and usually have an ice maker which is a nice feature. You get loads of fridge door space, too, and can fit tall bottles in the door! Not just 4 eggs and a pint of milk.
