  • Cancelled!

In case anyone hasn't received any instructions on how to do so:
Give Motorway Direct a call on 03300 555 389 and say you wish to decline the Drive Happy replacement, they'll take down your details and contact PRA Group and cancel it all off.
  • I bought my car from Carcraft on a 5 year policy. I got 2 loans with it. One from AIOF and another from Black horse. I've completely paid off my AIOF one now and am just left with the black horse one. Does this mean I can claim back for the drive happy guarantee? I've moved house so didn't get the letter and only found out about it when I rang RAC in the middle of the M6 as I needed recovering! Which was rather annoying as you can imagine!

Any advice? I'm rubbish with stuff like this! Wish I'd never got the stupid car from them now!
  • Unfortunately if you've completely paid off the drive happy package then I think you're out of pocket and won't be able to claim anything back. However call Motorway Direct (03300 555 389) and find out if they will honour your drive happy package, you might be able to at least get the cover you have already paid for.

Think we're all in the same boat wishing we'd never bought from carcraft. Next car will be bought with a bank loan for sure.
  • Has anybody had any further update regarding this? I had a DHP taken out in 2013, I was still owed one service (summer 2015) and one MOT (New year 2016) when this whole thing happened. I have spoke to AIOF twice a month at least to get some kind of update.

I declined the cover from Motorway direct on at least 4 occasions as this wasn't being fed back to AIOF, I was told that the debt was being written off and I would receive confirmation about this, this was back in September, I have just spoke to them now as I have not received anything further and was advised that 'new information has come to light' and if i could send them a copy of my agreement as some of these would now be void as the DHP can be take over 2,3 or 5 years so some people would not be entitled to anything.

I wasn't happy naturally as it has taken me calling them, again, to get any kind of information, it seems that nothing has actually happened since Motorway Direct said they would take on the policies.

Was advised on 6th August & 3rd September that a letter confirming the debt was to be written off should have been received and that they would chase where this was and when I can expect confirmation.

Was given verbal go ahead to cancel direct debit by assitant from AIOF on 4th September.

It seems that they are trying their best to avoid refunding any money with the 'new information' regarding how long the policies were held for.

Entirely bored of the whole situation now.

Exactly the same as has happened to me. Their 'new information' from head office states that my warranty was only for 2 years yet I am positive that it was for 3. As the warranty is no longer available and I don't have the car I foolishly got rid of the paperwork and cannot provide evidence. Because they state it was only for 2 years the warranty had ceased before the company went bust and as such I have to pay the whole finance agreement. If anyone has any documentation to show what the cost of the warranties were it would be greatly appreciated? I paid £995 (plus interest) which I recall covering 3 years although the finance for that was offered and taken over 5 years.

To top it off I was told at the point of getting my car that the finance company would only give me the finance if I had a warranty. At the time it didn't occur to me that I was being lied to - as it happens I was; I spoke to the car finance company and they categorically stated they would have never and do not apply that as a caveat to getting finance!

I've got the paperwork around somewhere but off the top of my head it was around £500 a year for the DHP. So if you've paid £995 that would suggest it was 2 years of DHP.

I was told this also. I did find it bizarre that buying a 5 year old car which was outside of it's manufacturer warranty required having a new warranty just to be able to take out Finance from an external company.
