Are you certain that there's no risk in cancelling the DD? I have just checked on Experian and the payment to PRA does not show on my credit report so I think you're right that it won't affect that but I don't want to stop payment and then get bailiffs at the door.0 -
Interesting that your PRA/AIOF doesn't show on your credit file - mine does! Otherwise I also would have cancelled it too. Still not had any further updates from them though after regular calls and emails.0

My finance for the car (to GMAC) shows on my credit report but PRA definitely doesn't. There's not even any historical sign of AIOF (no AIOF, Aktiv Kapital or PRA Group).0

Ive got a loan with all in one finance / practice group as well as creation for my car I bought from carcraft, I don't know where I stand either
I don't want to be paying for something I shouldn't be0 -
Hi I'm a bit late in the game with this but share a similar tale. My finance agreement is with black horse. Haven't checked if it appears on experian. I too am tempted to cancel my direct debit. Thing is the Car payment AND the the warrantee is lumped together. So I can't just stop the warrantee part of my monthly payments.
Just wanted to know if anyone who had has had any adverse reactions. So fed up this!!! Think I'll cancel the WHOLE lot and Blackhorse or the administrators can go whistle! Need advice please0 -

Firstly - is there anything wrong with the vehicle?
Secondly if you cancel the direct debit they will eventually collect the car from you at your cost sell it for a pittance at an auction - then pursue for the whole outstanding balance (less sale proceeds at auction)
Thirdly - do you want any kind of credit over next 6 years or so?
If so keep on paying!0 -
For those of you with PRA - I just received a letter from them this morning to say an alternative to the DHP has been sourced, with a company called Motorway Direct. They give you the option to continue with the warranty with the new supplier - or - cancel! The letter states refunds will be backdated accordingly.
Personally, I've had a terrible experience with PRA Group so will be choosing to cancel and cut all ties with them but it's glad to finally have some closure and options for us all.
Bit more detailed info for those who are bothered...
PRA says that all their customers should have received at least two letters...
The first letter - 'You should have received a communication that confirms the situation and asked you to continue with payments while work was done to find a replacement toe the Car Craft Guarantee. This letter also confirmed that if you wanted to cancel, then payments made since 1st of May for the guarantee will be refunded.'
The second letter - from the new DHP provider 'Motorway Direct', again asking if you wish to continue with payments to cancel (and receive refund/reduced loan balance).
Unfortunately I received neither and only got a letter today following a complaint I made last week. One PRA advisor told me I didn't even have an account with them. Another told me I had to deal with AIOF regardless of who my loan was sold to. Such drastically different information from what their management is saying in this letter. It's a shame as this could have been resolved months ago for PRA customers - although I'm assuming the same stands for the other finance groups that any AIOF agreements were sold to?
Anyway. Rant over! Agreement cancelled. Yay!
Thought this might be useful for people.

I've not had anything from PRA at all since the initial letter when the finance was sold to them before any of this fiasco happened.
How do I go about contacting them to cancel my payments?0 -
I have received no communication from PRA at all. I only know of them as they take some money as a DD every month (the same amount as AIOF) I had an unsecured personal loans with AIOF in 2012, then the DD name changed to Aktiv and then to PRA group. There is no historical record of ever having a loan with AIOF or Aktiv on my credit report. I don't know who these pra group people are so I have emailed them asking them some questions. Wait and see what they say. I have no paperwork from them, no communication saying they have my account from AIOF and no record of a loan on my credit report. I am so confused
