  • I almost said Happy Monday but it doesn't feel happy, it was so hard to get out of bed this morning!! I have a banging head and feel shattered. Going to bed at 11.30 last night didn't help I don't think, plus its bucketing down so an all round miserable day (bit like my mood, lol)

Had a pretty quiet weekend. Did the food shop (finally) on Saturday and spent £60 in Aldi, which considering I haven't been properly shopping for weeks isn't bad. We'd run out of all kinds of stuff. That should be our main shop now other than fresh bits each week. I've set myself a budget of £150 for the month. Be interesting to see if I can stick to it!

Didn't spend a penny at all yesterday as I didn't leave the house. Had a good clear out and tidy up and reorganised my daughter's bedroom. We'd been given a brand new bed by my mum (it was bought for my nan but she went into a home before she passed away and never used it) so we scrapped the old one and used the opportunity to clean and sort out. My daughter loved her new grown up room and even asked to go to bed early so she could get in it :) (she's 6)

Payday on Friday, can't wait. My last ever loan payment and a chance to pay some more bills and update my signature total :)

Also waiting patiently for the new Barclaycard to arrive as it has to be activated before we can do our transfers (because I didn't have the details to hand when I applied) That'll free up a bit more money this month too to pay off something else.

Back on the dreaded diet today aswell but feel like eating the world so far. Got to stop messing about though and wasting time, I'd like to lose at least a stone before my holiday in August and can't keep delaying it any more. Why is food so bloody nice??!?!!?

Anyway, for the debt Onwards and upwards and hopefully the diet onwards and downwards, lol :)
  • Isnt it due to brighten up this afternoon?
I can't actually see from the board room i've been plonked in!
Good luck with the diet - I struggle so much with dieting - I love to eat too much, I always start out well but it never lasts!!! I need more exercise to counteract the intake!!
£60 is really good! We are low on everything!!!!
Roll on friday - it will be amazing to have that last payment! Loans drag on forever!!
Here's to the sunshine thats on its way and to a happy rest of the day!!!

  • I hope so, actually I can't see it either from my office/cupboard anymore so there could have been a tornado or a heatwave and I'd be none the wiser till I went to make a cuppa, lol

I'm the same, love food in general. I need to become an exercise addict and then I could eat whatever I wanted :) I only have to sniff a cake and I put 3lbs on plus another 3 for water retention, haha

7 years I've been paying my loan, since I was pregnant. Thought it would never end!!!
  • i think my big loan ends in 2017 :-(
we actually got a dog so we would exercise more - OH does but he likes to walk in the buggy unfriendly forest and just before P's bedtime so I only walk him weekends! when we first got him i would take him for a walk round the block at 6am every morning but am needing sleep too much right now!
i can almost see the pounds i'm going to heap on next week, courtesy of french cheeses, breads, pastries and wine !!!

  • 2017 isn't all that far away, only 18 months till it starts if that cheers you up :)

I'd love to get a dog but we are all out all day and it wouldn't be fair so we settled on cats in the end (daughter was desperate for pets)

If you can't pile some pounds on while you are holiday there is a never a time you can!! Very jealous of the yummy food!!
  • Well I'm definitely in a better mood today and not half as tired, that's a good start :)

I'm putting it down to starting my diet yesterday and not eating any rubbish. I think my body really struggles with sugar etc and affects my moods even though I love it.

So the lovely shiny new Barclaycard arrived yesterday so I spent my evening activating it and doing the balance transfers so we have 0% now for 35 months (which is longer than it'll take to clear our debts hopefully!!) So I successfully transfers the balance of a Halifax credit card 1252, a capital one card 145 and a vanquis card 1500.

I'm a bit gutted that the Argos store card we have (which is the one I really wanted to transfer) apparently is part of Barclays group and you can't transfer them :( We have a balance of 871.19 on there and I'm wondering whether I should try another non Barclays credit card with 0% or just get stuck into the balance and pay it as quickly as possible, what do you think?

The other thing I didn't realise is that you can only balance transfer 90% of the credit limit. Which is ok as we can't do the Argos anyway but that'll teach me to read the small print better!! I'm still happy we transferred all the others. They are in hubbys name so I will be getting him to call and cancel all of the cleared accounts as soon as the transfer has been processed.

Either way its considerably reduced the number of creditors we have, woo hoo :)

Also paid this months £30 Argos card payment (10 quid over minimum) and the other Barclaycard £80 (£15 over minimum)

I will pay more off them when I get paid on Friday I think. Going to make sure all the minimums are paid then start paying overpayments. I need to re-do my snowball calculator again now the argos card still exists and see where I am!! I've started logging from this month how much I am paying off everything so I have a monthly total.
  • Yay!!! All positives!!!
I'm hoping that once I've transferred my Barclaycard to a 0% and paid that off - that I might be able to get the Barclaycard 36 months one. Slightly concerned that my 0% is only for 6 months and whether I will clear it in time! But I will certainly do my best!
Hope you have a lovely day - one step closer to the weekend!

  • Well you'll definitely make a massive dent in it I bet in those 6 months. You can always try again when its coming to an end and transfer again to another card. I would never have dreamed of keep juggling things before, just left them sitting with massive APR's and never getting anywhere. This forum definitely opens your eyes doesn't it?

You have a lovely day too, roll on Friday :)
