Use the MSE checker for the 0% cards - wont show up on any credit file that you have been looking for a new CC.

Wetsuits: Aldi will be stocking them soon - perfectly good for a Cornwall beach holiday. We all like shortie style but as the girls got older and got into surfing properly they now have full length better quality as they surf all year round BRRRR! We found wearing a wetsuit means you can stay in the water longer:)

    Beware PAD'ing is addictive!

I started on 7 May to a loan* and it's amazing how much small amounts soon add up (insert embarrassed smiley face). At least it's going somewhere useful now instead of just disappearing in the black hole that is my purse. I just wish I'd started years ago.

*if I can keep it up at this rate the loan will be paid off in six months not 18!

We picked up some cheap wetsuits in Tesco a few years ago! Think they were about £25 for an adult sized one, and maybe £15 for kids ones? Worth every penny! We will need to replace our eldest's outgrown one this summer so will be keeping my eye for them coming into stock too!
Total Starting Debt August 2014- £38,061
    Current Debt- £3600

    Mortgage Offset Savings- £600
    90.5% paid off so far...
  • Thanks Igamogam, Going to look at the 0% checker in my lunchbreak. I'll keep an eye out in Aldi, none of the 3 girls have surfed before but we have some boogie boards (think that's what they are called) that we are borrowing for them to try. It's our first Cornwall holiday but hoping it'll be great and we might make it a habit!!

Thegreenone, if I could collect all the odd 1 and 2 pounds wasted in the shop on a bar of chocolate or something I didn't want/need I'd be rich too!! I might start a change jar at home and then every now and then pay it off something :)

Mums, thanks and have a lovely weekend too, hope you are all feeling a bit better? xx
  • Pinkpoppies, I'll let you know if I spot any bargains!! :)

Igamogram, I bloody love you!!!! I just applied for 0% card, thinking no chance in the world of being accepted and got accepted with 4k limit so I can transfer one of our cards over (can't do Barclaycard as its with Barclaycard, boo!!) I wouldn't have even tried if you hadn't of mentioned it so thank you thank you thank you!!!!

Anybody know if I can also transfer things like store cards for a balance transfer? We have an argos card I would love to not pay interest on as its horrendous!!

    Smiley happy face :):):)

I think some CC will accept store cards. You might find that the CC you transfer onto the 0% may well offer you a 0% deal to stay with them if you call to close it when the balance is zero........or hang onto it and they may well send you a deal in a month or so.
If you cant move that Arg*s balance........get PADding it NOW:rotfl: Its definitely the one to tackle if its the highest interest rate

  • It's given me a great excuse to do a new shiny snowball calculator :) lol
  • I tried applying for a 0% one the other day - it said it would get back to me in 7 days - haven't heard a thing! Again I have a b/card and cant transfer a b/card to another b/card!!! My credit score must be bad at the moment - I haven't missed payments at all just overstretched the credit I guess :-(

  • It'll soon come Mums with you making so many overpayments and clearing stuff.

I honestly thought we wouldn't get one either, we tried not long ago and got refused. I guess because we are so overstretched aswell but seems like my overpayments have made a difference already :)

I'll soon be reading about you doing the same. Our other Barclaycard has the highest on it aswell (2750) but I just figured out I can transfer the Halifax, Capital one (only 145) and Argos so I'll get rid of 3 creditors, hurrah :) Didn't make much difference to my snowball, only one month but hopefully I can overpay even more and bring it down more xx
