Clamping is now an offence on private land if no lawful authority. Lawful authority is limited to a few organisations such as police, DVLA and a few others

Ok, I'll do some checking, but I recall this being covered in an article on MSE.

    This kind of thing.

If you're right, I guess we'll need to drop the barrier, lock it tight, and charge these scum an arm and a leg to exit instead.

Some might argue that if they can't respect private property, then others shouldn't either, and that the illegally parked vehicles are fair game for a degree of "value reduction". I prefer to remain within the law and not descend to the level of these free-loaders, however, they do need to be deterred from making their vehicles someone else's problem, big time.

Just a thought, have you considered letting the parking spaces? Look at "Park at my house" and other sites.

My drive is not directly in front of my house, it is a double drive on the side of my house and I admit that it isn't necessarily obvious that it is a drive and perhaps looks like two parking spaces to some.

During the day, tradesmen keep parking in these spots. At times when my car is parked there, I have seen them getting all sorts of tools and ladders and this could damage my car.

I have been out and told them to 'beat it' in of course a polite way but it seems a constant problem. I clearly need to make it obvious that it is a driveway because most people wouldn't just go and park on someone's driveway.

Should I put a sign up on the wall e.g. private parking or private driveway? It is driving me around the bend (pardon the pun)

    Have you tried hitting them?

Liveried delivery vehicles can ignore most parking regulations as part of the universal service stuff

The only general exemptions are usually for things like emergency services or council vehicles performing their statutory duties. I'm not aware of any circumstances where delivery vehicles have special privileges (though it's possible the enforcers might turn a blind eye to them).

Bit worrying that your stance was based on a 4 year old thread. Have a read of the Protection of Freedom Act 2012 Sect 4 or even better go on to the parking board where they will put you right on what exactly you are legally allowed to do.

I would get a bollard and put it up AFTER someone has parked on your driveway.

If they come to the door and ask for it to be taken down, tell them you have swallowed the key so they will have to wait until you need a number 2...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Workmen need to park legally, safely and considerately, and not on private land without permission.

    Simples.
I wouldnt restrict that to "workmen" i would restrict it to any vehicle but the difference is that if that van or visitor is coming to deliver or provide a service and he cant stop then the goods will not be delivered or service provided. Think of an environment where there is no where to stop. Nothing would ever happen ! The driver would not risk his pay by picking up a parking ticket, he/she would just drive on.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

    Thanks, I will.

Our aim is to prevent scum bags from abusing our expensive parking spaces, which they do plus give abuse if challenged, so knowing how far we can go legally is great.

TBH, we're right close to the canal, so using corner dollys and dumping said scum bag's cars into the cut is right tempting!

There are offices in Aberdeen near some fish processing places beside the River Dee. Sometimes the office workers block the entrances to the fish places so the fish workers dump fish guts on the car roofs and then the seagulls swoop in !!!!!!!! all over the cars in the process. I'm not sure how legal that is but it is a successful deterrent.

The driver would not risk his pay by picking up a parking ticket, he/she would just drive on.

If the alternative is for them to park illegally, dangerously, or inconsiderately, then driving on is exactly what they should do.
