The land has an asking price of £30k so it's not cheap, but I'm considering it.

Although the whole thing is a no go until/if/when the Council evict the travellers. I've been trying to speak with someone in the Planning department all day to get an idea of what's going on, but no joy.

Given that around 20 people objected to the travellers' planning application - and that is quite a lot considering it's a very rural area - there must be some pressure on the Council.

Objections based on 'we don't want them' will cut little ice. They have to be based on valid planning rules.

You're not trying o speak to planners on the phone are you? Do it face to face for any chance of an 'off the record this is how it is' reply.

Most if not all of the ~20 objections were similarly worded and had valid reasons, e.g protected land, heritage, flooding issues, unsightly. It would appear that a local 'preservation society' got involved in the matter and organised a meeting or two which I assume helped greatly. I didn't see any objections based on 'we dont want them'.

Although regardless of all this, the appeal was not received in time so, unless the council make a u-turn it would appear the matter is closed and the next step is to force them off the land - if it gets to that, and revert it back to stabling. Just trying to figure out if people are kicking up a fuss to see if it's likely to get there.

I am trying to reach them on the phone yes. AFAIK the only way to get them out is to pay £420/hour for a site visit - is there another way? I was going to assume the persona of an "outraged local resident and council tax payer" who finds them intolerable and wants them gone, rather than a prospective house buyer :D
