What i dont understand is, why someone who is that "in" to cars that they simply must have a GTR and is happy with the associated monthly costs (which is the motoring equivalent of a crack cocaine habit), but has not to this date owned a car?
If i'd £1000 in my back pocket i could find a great car that would be fun to drive and put a smile on my face (and have done many times in the past), but i dont think i'd ever NEED to run something that extreme to get pleasure from motoring - to the point that i'm happy not to have a car AT ALL until i can get one?0 -
My boss has an 09 plate GTR among his stable of vehicles, he rarely uses it, but when he has the servicing costs are other worldly. He winces at some of the charges and he has an 8 figure bank balance.0

And at 29, they could have had 12 years of not owning a car in order to save up for a GTR, a car which has only been available since 2007 - 8 years ago.
That first four years of not owning a car on the off chance Nissan might come up with something interesting must have been hard work0 -
£50-£60k for a used Datsun!! Wow:rotfl:
seriously though, that is some car! but some running costs too! if the OP is genuine and can afford it...go for it! you only live once!Plan: [STRIKE]Finish off paying the remainder of my debts[/STRIKE].
[STRIKE]Save up for that rainy day[/STRIKE].
Start enjoying a stress debt free life.....now enjoying. thanks to all on MSE0 -
Are you prepared to tell your Girlfriend/future wife, that she can't have the 'wedding of her dreams' because you are paying for your car? Give it a few years, use the money 'for your life', and not a money draining possession.
The only people I know who go for the >£60K cars earn significantly more than £50k a year0 -
...I am planning to get a Nissan GT-R (used, between 50-60k)
...The best finance quote for the car is £640 a month over 4 years with a £16k deposit (car worth 60k).
Presumably you're talking about cost (not value) in both these sentences, as if you're talking about mileage in the first one, you'd be an idiot to spend £60K; a 45K mile GTR can be had for £35K.0 -
Have you got an insurance quote yet? I'd bet 5-6k per year, maybe more.
You don't mention what driving experience you have, you can get into trouble in any car but you need good reflexes to drive a GTR day to day as things can happen very quickly.
Then as others have said, servicing will be a killer. Plus if anything breaks...
It's great to have something to aim for but you could get a serious level of buyers remorse from this car. I lose loads on cars (I have the new mustang on order, 5ltr V8) but I justify it pretty much as you are - I work hard and its my reward, but I wouldn't stretch for a GTR. Lambo maybe but thats an even high level of running costs.
Maybe start a little smaller, the 370z is okay (I've had a new one, plus a few 350s), the BMW Mcoupe is pretty cheap now (tail happy though). Or how about a lotus? Quite cheap to run and a huge amount of fun if not driving too far.
Oh and if serious, then get off moneysaver and get on a GTR forum.0 -
