New Samsung not playing BBC

I've just bought a Samsung UE32J5600 Tv which came out in March 2015. Set up was easy but BBC channels wouldn't play saying 'data service'. ITV, Channel 4 etc were fine though. Now I've played around making sure cables are in properly and the BBC ones work but the others won't play! This is all on standard freeview

I've still got to connect my (old version) Sky box but need an additional cable as there is no SCART socket

Will that resolve the issue?

If the TV has no Scart socket, the only way to connect an old Sky Digibox is via the RF output and tune in using the analogue tuner in the TV (if it has one). The result will be a crap picture and mono audio.

Better to upgrade to a Sky+HD Digibox and use an HDMI cable - even if you aren't prepared to pay for HD.

The Sky Digibox will provide most (not all) of the terrestrial programmes. However, it would be a good idea to sort out your Freeview problem, then you'll have a choice. You'll find Freeview faults advice on the Satcure web site.

Interestingly, the tv worked even though an aerial wasn't even plugged in which is quite impressive. Plugging directly into the wall fixed everything.

Now to dump sky as it doesn't work with the new TV!

The new TV has a component/composite video input...

Probably as RCA (phono) sockets so a scart to phono lead would allow the old $ky box to connect... albeit in poorish quality composite video, but at least stereo sound.

Agree it does have these inputs on the back

    - Component input x 1
    - Composite input x 1

you can pick up this cable it should work fine from ebay just type in scart to 3x phono, there are longer ones on ebay if you require they are just a few quid
