Hi
My eldest got Oilatum on prescription when he was little. Worth asking your GP.
It sounds like you have got a lot on your plate and I agree that trying to get fussy kids to eat what you make is a hassle but making different meals for everyone costs you. Kids wont starve, could you face some tough love with this one? It will benefit them later on and the longer you leave it the harder it is.
When one of mine went through a really fussy stage I used to allow them 3 options a week. I mealplan so for 3 nights a week they could opt out and have say fishfingers or frozen pizza but it had to be decided in advance. The other nights they only got what we were having. It actually worked really well.
Oh and mealplanning. Hard to get used to but a lifesaver in terms of making life easier and saving money. I do a week in advance but have done it fortnightly in the past.
My £70 a week provides main meals for 4, packed lunches for 3, all breakfasts, all cleaning products (but I dont use many), loo rolls, washing powder, basic toiletries. We eat meat most days so will have family meals, something like spag bol, curry, homemade pie, meatballs, liver and bacon casserole, homemade pizza etc. I use my slow cooker a lot.0 -

Both lists go to the sm with me but stuff on the offer list is only bought - if it's on a good offer! If I get to the point I'm going to run out, it moves over to the 'need now' list and I get it the next time I go.
I Love this! :T
The wife and I have had many an argument in the supermarket where I have wanted to by stuff because its such a good deal but get told "No! Its not on the shopping list"

Starting an "OFFER" shopping list right now!I've been doing it for a couple of years now and once you get into the swing of it, it works really well - I must've saved a fortune in that time and TBH it's not often that stuff ends up on the 'need now'!

It will be hard for a couple of weeks but they will soon learn that if they don't eat it, there is nothing else - I'm afraid you are making a rod for your own back pandering to it.
I understand this, and under normal circumstances I would agree with you. But my children need to eat something and I am not physically or mentally strong enough right now for *that* battle. They are all healthy and I cannot afford for them to not be. I am working on getting myself healthy and *trying* to maintain our finances at least, until I am either stronger or at the very least gotten through this house move.Have you looked at the grocery challenge - even if you don't fancy joining (they are a great bunch though!) there are some fantastic recipes available.
I have, it worked very well for me (along with second purse) and I learned the skills that I have in place now that are keeping me afloat. Also, there's the 'feed your family for about £20' crowd - they are on FB but have recently done a website so you can search the recipes easier - very yummy! http://fyf20quid.co.uk/Have you asked the Dr if there are any products that you can get on prescription if it's for a medical condition?
I have had many prescriptions over the years and after much begging finally have a dermatologist appointment later this month.
Im also between Gp's because of the house move so expect I'm in for another struggle as I go back to the beginning with a new one.Passport photo's-Sorry but they're really not essential ..... if you're struggling to feed everyone and meet everyday needs then I'm afraid it may be that you need to forego holidays for a few years!
Landlord issued a S21 as he sold the house, but we were on the housing list because the house wasnt safe for me and he refused to give SS permission to make adaptions so I was finally approved for a council house. Our housing association required us to make a new application each time we were nominated by council for one of their houses. This was so that they could vett us before hand and each application required a set of passport photos for each of us.
We also discovered the unforseen expense of laying flooring of some sort and buying a cooker. The walls will need painting at some point but that will wait. This is the main reason for me updating the budget, because even at its cheapest to last a little bit-cookers are not cheap, nevermind the flooring.
My problem is also (as Ive explained) not entirely about affordability and somewhat about cashflow.Do you use shopping lists?I wish you the best in getting your health back - it's awful when everything's a struggle and you know you could be doing better with many things but just can't - you will get there.
Thank you, I know I'm on my way up now because I can finally have a few gadgets installed that will help keep me from falling down stairs and such
Edited to correct: Sorry, our break win was a week end-not a week (that would have been wonderful, just noticed my error reading back now)
I should also have added for clarity about the HA, each application had to be submitted to view a house-not to be approved for one. And we spent a number of months viewing houses we wouldnt get because we were only third or second on the list-but we had to view them in case those ahead of us refused them, as that's the way the council works.0 -

Ohhhhh for goodness sake, that's ridiculous  surely they're able to keep a set of photos on file and once vetted, you're vetted!
Is it cheaper to take photos (eg on a mobile) and get them printed somewhere?
Re the holiday, my apologies, I hope you'll appreciate it was an easy mistake to make as I had no idea what else you could need repeated p/port photos for!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

I really can't face tough love anything, at least until I get into the new house. We have the keys and DH has been preparing the floors, and Ive been in and out for various adaptions being put in. A Stair lift goes in on the 12th and then we can move in (the only loo is upstairs).
I like that idea and will try it. He does have 3 particular favourites which we always have in. We have a rotation of these 3 in place on the days we have clubs as we get in quite late, and usually decide on Sunday night what we'll have the coming week.My £70 a week provides main meals for 4, packed lunches for 3, all breakfasts, all cleaning products (but I dont use many), loo rolls, washing powder, basic toiletries. I'd love to see your shopping listYour meals sound similar to what I was making when I was batch cooking. I love my slow cooker also, but it requires DH remembering to take it out for me in the morning/night before because its too heavy for me to move it from where its stored as my left hand is non functioning and *affectionately* referred to as my paperweight. This is another problem that will be solved by a combination of the new house with more practical storage for my needs, and my personal assistant. Im also pretty partial to my halogen oven but it has the same problems.
So I'm in this horrible limbo that's going to last me a few months, and if I can get through them I'll be okay. I'm not afraid to tough things out-but for the last 7 years Ive been stuck in a cycle of my health becoming manageable and things being okay, and then I have to move house and I have to change GP's and then they treat symptoms until it all gets too much and I end up in hospital and then everything is left in the air as DH has to take everything on himself and then I become "manageable" again and we start all over again.
Hopefully this new move will mean that I can stay at one GP long enough for them to get to know me and my disability and find a more permanent care plan, but at least the aids will mean I'll be able to be kinder to my body and slow down the degeneration and conserve some energy for more useful tasks than walking up the stairs.0 -

It would have been cheaper and easier-I have a just about professional office because I try to conserve my energy for my kids rather than running around hospitals and such with various documents. But it's done now, we have our house and we can get on with it.
But the HA gave us the usual data protection blah blah (couldnt access old apps because of different addresses etc...and it wouldnt be enough red tape now would it ? Besides, I figured we'd come this far, Ive fought really hard to get to the point I have and Ive jumped through all the hoops, this little detail wasnt going to stop me )
No offence taken either-it is a very easy mistake to make0 -
Aw hun sounds like things are really tough... baby steps are needed I think.
I would be happy to share my shopping list. In fact i will post up next weeks if it helps. My OH and I have to juggle work with caring for our son so I know how these things impact on your finances. As if life isn't hard enough eh?0 -
Babysteps indeed Yorkshirelass
I really would appreciate it if you would post next weeks list for me
For now, ironing is done so Im going to plod up the wooden hill to bed (oh how I cannot wait to be able to use the cable car)
Thank you for the chat tonight ladies, it has certainly picked me up some :A0 -
All the best for your new house which sounds so much more suitable - and secure. I hope it will help your health improve.0
