Do you control your central heating by thermostat

Or by timer

We used to have a similar one of those timers at work - I didn't like it. Too complicated and a pain to reset. Much happier with the ancient dial thermostat that I just turn up and down in passing.

You always need both (or a programmable thermostat that includes both timer and thermostat). I have used a WarmWorld Dataterm IHC (http://www.warmworld.co.uk/) for over 15 years.

We have a programmable timer and I have a DH who knows how to use it, he does try to show me on a regular basis what to do with which button.

I have something similar to the pic posted by the Op, but never use the timer part, I just switch it off or on.

Both. We have an intelligent load compensating stat that maintains the required temperature at the specified times.

My heating is either on or off.

Even with the thermostats on the frost setting my house warms up - fortunately the latest plumber who has been to look at my system is proposing to sort it out.

Our system is quite old, we have thermostatic valves and a fully programmable timer.
