Job interview on Tuesday but I'm concerned? ?

Hey all, iv been unemployed for almost 10 yrs as I was bringing up my young family and being a full time carer for my son. Anyway I obviously don't have the job yet but I am trying to sort things out in my head lol. The job is with a tesco about 30mins drive away and the pay is £7.02 an hour which means losing my carers allowance, but I have worked it out to be about £25 better off a week which covers my fuel. At this moment I feel like I need to get out of my own head so need this job lol!
Basically I'm assuming it's monthly paid so 2 months working without pay? What am I supposed to do to carry myself and family over? I currently get housing and council tax benefit, income support, carers and child tax. Any help is appreciated, sorry for the long post x

Good luck
you can claim working tax credits if you will be working over 16 hours a week (if your kids are still at home and in full time education) and can choose to have it paid weekly. If you get the job give them a call and they'll add it to your existing tax credits claim and should only take a week or so to start paying

There are 4 week run ons for some benefits not sure which ones you may also be entitled to working tax credits.
Why would it be 2 months no pay? Depending on the pay date it could be a week or 2 where you would get less first pay pack.0 -
it depends on their pay date as to how long you might have to wait to get paid
good luck0 -
Oh and no,it shouldn't be 2 months until you are paid. Shouldn't be more than a month at most and is often lessIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0

Thanks guys!
It is 16hrs at £7.02 but I have no idea of paydate. I am extremely nervous already and unsure of my figures but guess I'll talk to the jobcentre and surely they will keep me right? Thanks again0 -
Yes they should tell you which benefits have run ons.
Also put you figures in here http://www.turn2us.org.uk/benefits_search.aspx?gclid=CKPP7u7uo8UCFWfJtAod32IAuw
Will tell you what if any tax credits, housing benefit and council tax support you will continue to get when working.
Good luck with it, bet it will feel good to be doing something after spending so long caring.

I have read about a job grant but then read elsewhere they no longer have such a thing and you are left to it? Other than being naturally nervous about the interview the financial side of it terrifies me after everything kinda staying the same for so long lol! Thanks0

Would you not get the run on ??
That would see you through any waiting times for your wages.
Good luck, bet you are ready for a change after 10yrs stuck with kids!!0 -
I have no idea about a run on, I will call jobcentre on Tuesday (if the interview goes well) and see what she says.
As much as I love my kids I need to scrape back a wee bit of a life for myself lol!!0 -
There is a runon with Carers Allowance so you won't have no income (little I accept). Also you won't have to wait 2 months to be paid. If you are unlucky and start the day after the payroll is finalised you may have to wait up to 5 weeks but I certainly wouldn't expect to wait more than that.
Good luck with the interview.0
