Hi All
I have been affected by the CapitalOne cashback cut. I was on the 1.25% cashback world card. This finishes at the end of the month and goes to 0%.
I used it for a lot of expenses for the family and work, and over the course of a year made in the region of £1000 in cashback. I have an Amex which I am happy with but the above cashback was all at non Amex places as I always try my Amex first. It is important to note most of my expenses where not for your usual shopping or fuel. Mainly travel related expenses but all in pounds.
I have searched everywhere to see what the best cashback I can get is and all I can find is the Aqua Poor credit rating at 0.5%.
Alternatively I would be happy settling with a major supermarket or voucher company at 1% equivalent that I can spend. Any ideas?

Tesco Credit Card?
1 Clubcard point for every £4 you spend. Though you have to spend exactly multiples of £4 in each transaction to get a Clubcard point
i.e. spending £7.99 in one transaction would only get you 1 Clubcard point, £11.99 - 2 Clubcard points and so on.
You can double up on vouchers etc, spend it on Avios points etc. which could come to the equivalent to 1% on cashback.0 -
Depends what your spending on.
Santander 123 with a £24 annual fee might be the answer. Check what it pays cashback for against your spending pattern.
Halifax Clarity Reward paying £5 on a £300 monthly spend. If you have the current account.

Hi w211
Thank you for this. I do see the potential but it seems a lot of work. I was hoping for a strong retail offer where I already spend the money. Most of the clubcard deals are already discounted otherways such as on Tastecard etc so I would struggle to realise a 1% return.
On the Avios I am getting 0.6 avios per £ or then Virgin 0.625 per pound. I also have my Virgin Amex card that earns me 2 miles per £ where accepted and 1 mile per £ on the Visa. However, I am looking at something a bit more like cash to me which is either a Supermarket voucher or a general voucher like Love2Shop.
PeacefulWaters, thank you also. Unfortunately my spending is not on fuel or supermarket so much and my travel does not count as its only TFL and National Rail covered upto £300/mo.0 -
Up to £300/month is up to £9/month.
Unless (after the £24 annual fee) you spend more than £700 a month on rail, you're no worse off than before.
There's also the chance to throw a few months spending onto it at 0% for 23 months at the moment, which at current ISA rates could be worth 6% of a months spend, meaning that it could be a fairly profitable short-term bet for you. (or up to 9.6% after basic tax in a 123 account at £3k+)
Pair this with the 123 Current Account, there are plenty of opportunities to earn some additional £££ on what you'd spend anyway.
We earn about £35/month from the current account after the £2 fee, so use it to your advantage.💙💛 💔0
