"Leaving emails on Server" Android 4.4.2

I have updated my Android Tablet to 4.2.2 and am "losing" my emails - when I log on to email on the device (they are not available on any other devices) - how do I set it to "Leave emails on server" ?
I can't see it in any of the options....

I have checked via webmail and yes - my emails have been deleted from the server - previous versions of android gave me the option of "leaving on the server"
I am using the stock email app !!!

As you use more than one device to access your email you should be using IMAP on ALL devices. At least one of your devices is set to POP which (usually) downloads (and removes) the mail from the server when you access it.

Or the messy workaround is "to leave mail on server" e.g.

You would be better off with IMAP than POP mail, if your provider has it.
As far as your present problem is concerned, it's usually the email client that gives you the option to leave on server. Can you try another email app? I always found K9Mail to be good when I had android.

I know that I should use IMAP - But have never got round to changing from POP !!
The workaround doesn't work - there's No "Ensure Delete Email from Server is set to Never" option on incoming !!

Hmm. Perhaps the "leave message on server" only comes up on first configuration. Should be there somewhere?

Why is IMAP 'better'?
I use pop and feel that I can manage my e mails properly from my PC and then just browse them occasionally on my phone

My only slight gripe is that I can't find a way to remove someone else's details when forwarding a message.

Have to disagree - I find POP far superior to IMAP for managing my email.

I access my email from a number of devices (at least 6), and have them all set to "leave mail on server", apart from my main PC, on which I remove the mail from the server after downloading. I have all my emails, going back to at least 1994 and have never lost a message.

On Windows devices I use Outlook, and on Android, K-9 Mail or Aqua Mail.

Using IMAP depends on your ISP or mail provider never deleting your email and never going out of business - that's not a risk that I'm prepared to take. You also need an internet connection to view your historic emails, whereas with POP you can access them all offline.

But with IMAP you don't have to leave all your emails on the server. You can make local copies and view them offline in exactly the same way as you do with POP.
