i used to use redex all the time back when i rode 2 stroke motorcycles, but i used to remove the spark plugs, pour some in the barrel, kick it over once to spread it about and then leave it for an hour, then start it up-used to smoke terribly for about 4 miles, but it did remove all the carbon for the 2T motor!

not sure that it works on cars as they state it does

Use ATF fluid; it's cheaper and removes everything. Just make sure you flip over the engine before putting the plug back in because you don't want to hydrolock the engine! - and of course only do one cylinder at a time or you'll never get it started.

My wifes Micra has had an engine management light come on intermittently a lot and all we could pin it down to was possibly the injectors.

A few tanks with a bottle of Redex in each tank and the problem has now gone away.

So naysay all you want, but it does help some problems.
