Their Corrado was showing 177 bhp

    redex raised this to 183

oil change and new air filter = 185

new plugs and leads = 188

redex was the best on a bhp for £ basis

5bhp is within the scope of just a variation between one run and the next though.

183 to 185 wont be that accurate on a rolling road when slight variations in temperatur of the test equipment and the vehicle parts could easily sway the result.

I think you will find they did more than one run each time.

Why do some people ignore results their bias disagrees with even when shown evidence to the contrary?

I take it you still believe the earth is flat?

I think they did the test 12 times and also took any temp changes into considerations. Good interesting video.

My CG125 motorcycle was smoking quite badly so I stuck a load of redex in the tank.... the smoking was visibly reduced but not totally gone... (11 litre tank and carb engine) so it was a bit more concentrated than usual...

The engine blew up about 3 months later anyway :rotfl:

i used to use redex all the time back when i rode 2 stroke motorcycles, but i used to remove the spark plugs, pour some in the barrel, kick it over once to spread it about and then leave it for an hour, then start it up-used to smoke terribly for about 4 miles, but it did remove all the carbon for the 2T motor!

not sure that it works on cars as they state it does

    Croyland, please answer these questions:

Is the car giving you engine problems?
    Is it diesel or petrol?

If you answer "Yes" to Q.1, what is the mileage? remember that a 1997 Corsa is now 18 years old. If your answer is "No" then definitely do not use the Redex.

As an ex-workshop foreman with many years' experience, I never saw any advantage in any "Additives" sold to motorists. They were advertised to take advantage of the lay person's lack of professional knowledge.

Yes the car is giving me problems and the car is petrol

Croyland, sorry I have been slow to respond. You did not say what mileage the Corsa has, but at the age, I expect at least 100k. If so, for a petrol engine with more than that, the Redex cannot cause anymore appreciable wear. It's your choice, basically. As I said, I never saw any benefit in additives. In my own cars (and I drove some very high-mileage examples when young!) I never used them.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.
