Is £900 for an unmetered bill right?

You say it is a 4 bedroomed house and that you are retired so I'm guessing there is only 1 or 2 of you living there. The rule of thumb is if there are less people than bedrooms in the house you will save money with a meter.

We have a large four bed home, but only 2 of us and we pay about £20 metered, per month.

You don't say where you live.


Prices in the area with the highest charges can be 3 times as much as other areas; also the OP pays for surface water drainage, and you may not.


Also when metered living in a 'large 4 bed home' with two people is not a factor; your charges would be substantially the same if you lived in a small 1 bed property.
