Vodafone - Cant send or receive sms.
Options
Posting on behalf of my cousin.
She got an iPhone 6 on Vodafone today and asked me to help her set it up as she's never had a smartphone.
Set up as usual etc everything working fine besides sms messages, she can't send or receive them at all.
Internet works fine, calls are fine, iMessages work (I have an iPhone, she can iMessage me) but can't send sms to any contacts besides those with iPhones as that goes as an iMessage. When someone who doesn't have an iPhone tries to message her the message simply fails to send.
Tried reset network settings, no joy. Did the usual switch off and on. No Joy, all the settings look fine. Turned iMessage off completely, no joy. In the end did a complete restore and set up as new and still no joy.
Having read the forums and seeing how abysmal Vodafones CS seem to be I thought I'd ask here before getting her to call tomorrow.
Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you checked the "SMS centre number" somewhere in the settings?
I has to be +44 7785 016 005:

Don't forget to pass the correct number on as well.0

Service center number was correct.
She now can't receive phone calls either but can make them.
Called vodafone who blamed carephone warehouse, went to carphone warehouse who have said it's vodafones problem.Sigless0 -
Check the sim in some other (unlocked or locked to Voda) phone. If it works, then it's definitely the handset problem, i.e. CPW's or Apple's.
If you go to CPW or Apple, I think they can check this for you.0 -
Yeah I'll check the sim in my iPhone tomorrow as mine is unlocked.
I'll go the CPW with her tomorrow and if they can't fix it she will just cancel and return it as you get 14 days cooling off period. Pointless having a phone and not being able to send/receive text messages or receive calls.Sigless0
