Alexander James & Co debt recovery for Water bill?

Options
I have just discovered I have been given a CCJ from Essex and Suffolk Water in respect of my Water bill which we had been disputing, Alexander James took over this debt who I have found out are actually part of Northumbrian Water Ltd and can vary from being very helpful to damn right rude. The last person i spoke to to offer a payment plan explained that as I could not pay at least half of my outstanding bill which is £409.00 they would not set up a payment plan and pass this debt to court which they have done. I filled out my court papers with an offer of £50 a month. 5 weeks later I got an acceptance letter for Alexander James accepting my offer and notifying me that a CCJ has now been placed against me!

Has anybody else experienced this procedure of come accross these "debt recovery specialists" and should I have received a default notice before the court papers/CCJ were issued???

Help Appreciated.

what aspect of the bill are you disputing?

if you were disputing that it was too much then you should have filed a defence to the claim form that was issued and then gone to court to explain why you thought it was too much etc.

if, as it appears that in this case all you have done is stated that you wanted to pay the amount claim in installments which has been accepted by the claimaint and this would still mean that you would get a ccj against your name.

however if this amount is paid off in full 1 month from when the judgement is entered by the court it will be removed.

if after this one month time you settle the amount in full then it will remain on your credit file but will be marked satisfied

Have not heard of the debt specialists that were mentioned however the above post is correct. By filling out the form where you stated you could pay £50 you have in effect filled out the admittance form and therefore will have a CCJ entered.
