Hi I have been made redundant not long ago, I have a capital one credit card and I was told by Axa the insurance provider that I am not entitle to claim as I wasn't paying national insurance. I wasn't aware about this. I Need a good advice please.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Yes I was employed by the company as a customer assistant. I worked there for 9 years.0

Through PAYE?
Have you signed on at the job centre for job seekers?Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I am not entitled to jobs seekers allowance as I didn't pay NI contribution and that's also the reason why I am not allowed to claim insurance through my PPI. Which I wasn't aware off I thought I was covered for unemployed but been told by the insurance that I am not!0

Is Not paying NI contribution stop you claiming PPI insurance for losing the job?0

How many hours did you work?, this could be why if you were only part time.0

Reading between the lines here:
Any PPI policy covering unemployment will require that you sign on at the job centre and prove that you are doing so before they will pay a claim. The reason for this is obvious, they need to be satisfied that you are making a genuine attempt to look for work. I think the OP is saying that he/she is not entitled to jobseekers due to not having made sufficient NICs.
To the OP, if you were not working 16 hours per week at the time of taking the cover then you were probably ineligible and should complain to the company you bought it through. If you were working 16 hours per week or more but not earning above the lower earnings threshold for paying NICs (unlikely as this would probably mean you would have been being paid less than minimum wage) then it's just one of those fluke scenarios which is not really anybody's fault, just nobody ever envisaged. Best thing to do would be to ask AXA nicely if they would consider refunding the premiums as you could never have claimedfor unemployment on the policy.0 -
Hi thanks for all your reply, Ive been to the jobcentre and sign on but unfortunately after checking my NI contributions I didn't pay for the last 2 years as I wasnt earning much. When I took the Ppi I was working partime only. I wasn't aware that you have to pay NI before you can claim the unemployment insurance. No one advice me. We did try to escalate the complain at AXA but the second time they did turn me down and said there's nothing they can do about it as I am not entitle in any claim.0

Put a claim in to Cap One for mis sell, you were not aware that you could not make a claim on the Insurance and have only found out now when trying to make a claim.0

If AXA has turned down the OP then they will need to go to FOS if they think AXA should have paid out (it is free).
If they think the policy was missold then they should go to Capital One and complain as Capital One will have missold it.
They only get six months from the date AXA said no to go to FOS so they may want to do that and also complain to Capital One.
If Capital One uphold then the AXA complaint would need to be withdrawn, but for now I would do both.0
