Friday 1st May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Must have just caught you this morning, Ziggy! Can't believe how crazy the time difference is.
I've had a pretty good day. Resisted the urge to buy a DVD for the kids over the internet. I need to stop spending my money on them! (Despite how easy it is to do.)
Done a few surveys, refused to register on any other websites and I've managed to keep off the laptop a little bit more than I did yesterday.
Not much else to report. Been drying clothes on the clothes horse by the fire, just need to get all the ironing done and the clothes put away and I'll feel so much better about everything!!
Hope you all have a good Friday! Keep plugging away. =D0 -
Morning Ziggy & all who follow
OH got paid yesterday so I did all the financial shuffling last night. I paid £130 off the cards but think I had my total wrong from last month as it didn't seem to go down by what I paid off. Strange. I'm in that bit where it feels like I have been sub £5k for ages but nowhere near 4k. But it all helps go the right way.
I am only 1 month away from having a full emergency fund too which I am pleased about.
I sent a brief email to our mortgage advisor asking for info on how self employed mortgages are working these days as I recently completed the 3 year trading & reporting period that most lenders were requiring for lending. We are not in a position to buy at the moment. It would involve selling our flat which we let out, & I don't think we want to sell it either. So we either need to wait till there is enough value in it to remortgage to release equity again or come up with a deposit from elsewhere.
We're happy were we live, it works for us. But I am conscious having owned for 8 years prior to this move that I'm only renting now. It sort of bothers me on a subconscious level. So having some info on how I am likely to be seen by lenders would be reassuring. Sorry that's more what big things are you thinking today not small ones
It's Friday. What ever comes I have 2 days to rest my weary bones after this so let's have it!

Morning all!
Pinch, punch - first of the month!
No offense taken Bob! Prior to and just after moving out of my parents home for the first time I went a little crazy as wanted to make sure the cupboards were fully stocked in an attempt to be a good house wife (not that I'm married!) So things got shoved to the backs of cupboards and forgotten about! I don't do that anymore and only buy what I know will be used shortly!
So today I have/will:-
* Eat breakfast (miracle in itself!) from use it up box
* Check banks
* No heating on despite OH complaining it was cold!
* Put P60 in bag
* Check when dentist appointment is (Tuesday morning! Knew it was coming up so pleased I checked!)
* Take lunch to work
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Earn more SBs
* Check FPL
* Check TCB
* Attempt to reclaim tax overpayment
* Check what cards I already have so I can buy ones for upcoming events from card factory whilst in town tomorrow
* Check checkoutsmart, shoptize etc to see what deals there are as will need to spend £5 in MrA tomorrow to get parking back
Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a great day. I'll try post over the weekend but if I don't I hope you all have a lovely long weekend!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)0 -
Morning all
Thanks for starting us off Ziggy
List for today:
Done so far:
Check banks
Heating off (even the towel rail in the bathroom)
Quiche shell made and blind baked for filling later for supper (I have bits of ham and some cream to use up, I will add an onion, a bit of grated cheese and some eggs from our hens)
Also made half a dozen unseasonal mince pies to use up leftover bits of pastry and an annoying jar from the fridge which had about 2 tablespoons of LO mincemeat in it, and has been in there since Christmas. My mincemeat is HM and contains lots of brandy, so no worries about use by dates or it having gone off :rotfl:
OH has done the hoovering :T
Still to do:
Finish off quiche, which we will have with salad later
Hoe parsnip rows in garden if it stays dry (this is a 5 minute job as the rows are short in our little garden
Check whether anything needs watering
Pop into sales unit as it is money day today :j Weirdly, I am always more interested in the list of what has sold than in the cheque itself :rotfl: Also see if tidying or topping up needed
Wrap GD3's birthday present for tomorrow. I also bought some absolutely preposterous necklaces from our local jewellers yesterday (they have a £1 table outside) with huge coloured 'jewels' as a little extra present for her and her sister. They will love them, and it will make DD laugh :rotfl: They are 5 and 8, and so funny at that age
Clean suede boots and put them away for next winter (I didn't do this yesterday)
Right, OH wants to go out, so better get a move on!
Hope everyone has a nice day0 -
Good morning!
