Seems I may have to pay up them, seeing as I made the mistake of appealing direct to C2C. I just don't want any trouble. I will send the letter the council gave me and see what happens. I am totally useless at anything like this and spent the weekend panicking about the fine. Wait to see what their next move is. Please, please don't falter. Short of sending you increasingly 'threatening' debt collector letters, there's nowt else they can do. In theory, they could issue court papers, but they have no record of previously doing so.

First off, we are dealing with an IPC member here so it makes no difference that maisie contacted them, they'd have got her details anyway:

Secondly, freddy is correct, Capital 2 Coast is part of {Edited by forum team}'s south coast fake-parking-ticket empire along with "Ethical" and Sussex Security.

Thirdly, maisie, they've sent you a letter full of hollow threats. So what? A letter can't hurt you and nor can their lies. They are not going to take you to court, nor do anything beyond send more silly letters.

The Council is at fault for this, partly for engaging these scum in the first place, partly for being incapable of issuing permits on time, and partly for not kicking C2C up-and-down the south coast until they cancel this.

The way to deal with your Council is to stop trying to get any sense out of the idle numpties at Council HQ and instead go directly to your councillors. If you don't know who they are you should be able to find their names, email addresses and home addresses on the Council's website. Tell your councillors that (i) you are disgusted that the council engaged this scumbag company in the first place (ii) you are disgusted that the council can't get permits issued on time, thereby exposing residents to harassment and intimidation from the scumbags (iii) that you are even more disgusted that the council hasn't contacted C2C directly and insisted that they cancel this ridiculous fake fine and (iv) you want to know what they are going to do about it, pronto.

If your councillors don't sort it out you may have a case for referral to the Local Government Ombudsman.

Also contact your local paper, they may be interested in running a piece. If you are in Sussex, so much the better: make sure the name {Edited by forum team} gets into the report. {Edited by forum team} so he'll just love the publicity for his {Edited by forum team} private parking activities.
