Arnold Clark and mis-selling!

Hard as it might be, any written communication needs to be factual, to-the-point and as devoid of emotion as possible. If you don't follow that methodology then you give the other party wriggle room to avoid answering the questions asked and providing the service/function requested.0

OP I had similar issues with Arnold Clark in the past. I bought a ten month old car from them and it came with another car's log book. They allege they serviced it before I got it and even stamped the wrong log book. They said that the service included a filter change, even though my local and trusted garage tell me that the filter had not been changed. They said they would track down the correct log book, but never did. They got rude and stroppy when I chased it up. After sixteen months the car developed a big problem which should have been covered by warranty, but wasn't due to log book issue. Eventually they agreed a trade in at an extremely favourable rate and I checked everything was squeaky clean with the next car before handing them any money.0

Firstly, I don't think you are over reacting. I think you have good reason. If a car isn't fully serviced there will be problems with in the future, which you as a technician will know. I think you have gone through the right avenues. The motor dealer are obviously not interested in sorting the issue out. Arnold Clark have a bad reputation throughout the Motor Trade. They are interested in selling you a car just not the aftercare of it. Hence why they spent a huge amount of money to take down https://www.arnoldclarksucks.com
I would let Trading standards deal with it. As for the Handbook that could be a simple mistake but you should have received it as well as the Service History at the time of handover. I would keep all communications noted for evidence.0
