Ryanair - travelling with baby

Options
I am taking a pushcchair for our one year old on a ryan air flight. It states the following in the T&C's but I wanted a second (or third) opinion - does the following mean I can definitely take pushchair plus his car seat? The pushchair will be taken from us at the boarding gate but what about the car seat, does anyone know if we would just put it on with the suitcases?

"One fully collapsible pushchair/double pushchair/travel system/baby sling per child plus one of the following items: car seat or booster seat or travelcot can be carried free of charge. Any other additional items of infant/child equipment (max weight 20kg per item) can be booked online at the rate of £10/€10 per item/per one way flight"

The car seat on-board is available for a child booking. You will be making an infant booking so not applicable. You don't get a seat on an infant booking so wouldn't be able to use it on-board anyway. It'll go in the hold but will form part of your baggage allowance.

Essentially yes although you will probably have to take to a special desk for outsized items.

I am also taking two children aged 8 and 7 but not their booster seats. Could it be used as part of their allowance? We don't want to use it on the plane, just the other end.

Why would you need to use it as part of their allowance? It is already included in the allowance for your one year old.

I think jps may have misunderstood the last bit ... So you are travelling with two other children also and are obviously looking to optimise your allowance.

The leopard (Ryanair) has changed its spots quite a bit on what you can take through the gate in the past 12 months.

Putting aside the child equipment bit, every seated passenger gets a second small bag in the cabin now plus from Stansted you can carry on anything you buy in airport. I say all this to make it plain that much less heavy-handed baggage policing and more smiley passengers is the norm currently.

I suggest that a mother or family with young kids is not going to be hassled by Ryanair in the current climate of more smiles in their operation dictated from the top :)

The carry cot/car seat will need to be left at the foot of the aircraft steps with the pushchair but I can't see anyone challenging a family with three kids but only one an infant because they have both a pushchair and à carrycot at the gate.

If you go to bag drop , the booster seats and car seat may be tagged and put in hold there, saving you from lumping around airport

Yes, their use of the word 'carried' in T&Cs is rather ambiguous. It doesn't necessarily mean that you must actually carry the stuff through the airport to the gate, it also indicates that it can be checked in and carried in the hold for free. (An airline is a 'carrier' in tradespeak.)
    Evolution, not revolution

Ok, thats great, we will definitely take it then and take it to the baggage drop. Does it need to be wrapped up in a bag or anything? We will take our older one so Im not concerned about it getting spoilt

We've never wrapped our car seat in anything.

Thank you jpsarte. Do you also drop it off at baggage claim?
