What was your plan when you took on a course that involved a year away without an income? Surely you must have had an idea that this was coming. I would say that if you are definitely going to take this year abroad, then your partner has to find a job that actually pays a salary, rather than one which makes no profit. If that's not an option, then you can't afford to go abroad.

Is the year abroad mandatory? Is it deferrable? To be blunt it sounds like you can't afford it unless you want to get rid of the house based on what I've heard...

By the sound of things, the OP started the course in the belief that ERASMUS funding would cover it and has now found that because of some technicality she is not eligible. Anyway, questions about the quality of plans made about two years ago are not really going to help. The bigger questions are: how important is the year abroad to completing the degree, and to career plans following graduation?

Of course, there are questions that she seems to have placed off-limits: it is hard to understand why she feels the need to support a partner who is building a business that does not pay his living costs, when he is apparently unable to support her studies, even to the extent of sharing or moving out of the home that she provides for him.
