Type find my ip address into google and it will tell you what it is.0

in that case, both
I typed in as suggested and have got a number. Is this the computers or the routers (and how to find the one I haven't got ?) thanks0 -
Post the 2 addresses and people might be able to help.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
-
but I only have 1
is it safe to post your IP address ?
how to finf the 'other' ?0 -
Start menu > run
Type "cmd" to bring up a command window, then type ipconfig.
You will see:
IPv4 Address = Your network IP (usually 192.168.?.?)
Subnet Mask = Ignore
Default Gateway = Your router (usually 192.168.?.?)
For your external IP address, search Google for "my ip".“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Do you have a "normal" home network, with a modem/router connected to your phone line? If yes, sites like WhatIsMyIPAddress will tell you the IP address that the modem/router uses to connect to the internet. As far as anyone on the internet is concerned, that is your IP address.
Your computer's IP address would thus be a "local" address, such as 192.168.1.77 ... the modem/router uses this to route traffic from the internet to your computer. (Research about Network Address Translation).0 -
What is the reason behind your query
the local one that allows your router to share your internet connection amongst your gadgets starts with 192, the internet one http://www.ipchicken.com/ doesn't start with 192.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0 -
the chicken/google search came up as 94.13.74.81
I found a (my) note on back of monitor showing 90.194.198.170
No trace of 192. etc
Do you have a "normal" home network, with a modem/router connected to your phone line? - YES0 -
Posting why you want to know would speed things up
Instructions on how to find the 192 address have been posted above, what's written on an old post it note has no relevance.Don't you dare criticise what you cannot understand0
