The people I rent a room from have done exactly the same. Plenty of channels to choose from on Freesat and they haven't missed Sky one bit! It's not your credit score that counts, it's your credit history. Any replies are my own personal opinion and not a representation of my employer.0

There is a slightly different channel list to freeview. Check out the listings to see if she is happy with it.0

Yes we were aware of the differences and she's fine with it but thanks for the reminderOne by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Strider - yes as InsideInsurance clarified, I was talking about the Sky box, as I said in my post. My point being - get everything on the Sky box watched, before you end your subscription. It would be very easy to think that once you've recorded something on it, it's yours, and it's still there, but needs the subscription card for decoding.0

Hi, would this work the other way round, i.e swap my freesat box for a second hand sky box ?0 -
^^ Absolutely no reason why not, as long as you have enough LNB connections (two minimum).“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Bearing in mind you need a Sky Card.
Obviously Sky scramble their own channels, but some of the the othres may be soft encoded (ie they need a working card in the slot even if there is no subscription) and also some channels may be the wrong region as thats set by Sky in a sky box and tied to postcode of the viewing card, whereas a Freesat box lets you select the region manually.
Sky Plus will not work without a subscription.0
