Just did 3 weeks in RIO\Peru (Lima MP) \Argentina

Used Avios to get there and around.
    Internal flights 9000 Avios + £10

Only crime was in Rio-In broad daylight

    All done independantly

    Excellent

You can't fly directly to Peru or Vietnam at the moment but you can get relatively easy and cheap connecting flights.

Total travelling time for our Qatar Airways flights from LHR to HCMC in September is 15 hours 45 minutes...

    Dep LHR @ 1505
    Arrive Doha @ 2345
    90 minutes between flights
    Dep Doha @ 0115
    Arr HCMC @ 1250

Excellent departure time from LHR, as there's no need for an overnight at a LHR hotel beforehand.

I doubt whether there'll ever be direct non-stop flights from UK to either HCMS or Hanoi.

Vietnam Airlines has flights VN54 & VN55 which are direct Heathrow to Hanoi. Seats available in November...

Love LOVE Cambodia and I would advise you to spend the 2 weeks there. Easy to travel around. PP and Siem Reap more western than the rest of the country - PP evolving rapidly and I can't tell you how much it has changed since I first went in 2007. Get there while you can in my opinion. It's nothing like Bangkok or Phuket IMO.

Vietnam - not keen TBH. Loved Halong Bay and Hoi An, but the rest of the country did not endear itself to us.

Not been to Peru so can't comment.

As this thread will show, we'll all have our own opinions!

Completely agree with this. I'm off to Cambodia for the third time this summer.

Same with Vietnam, Hoi An is lovely but not as keen on the rest.

I did 2 weeks in northern Vietnam last October and had a great time. Did a stopover in Hong Kong on the way then did a loop through Hanoi, Halong Bay and Hoi An. In the next few years I want to go back to see the southern half of the country. If you liked Chaing Mai then you'll love Hoi An too. Just be prepared for some unpredictable weather.

My only experience of Cambodia was 3 nights in Phnom Penh. It was interesting enough but I'm in no rush to go back.

I've been to most countries in South America and most in SE Asia as well. It really depends what you want from your holiday. Peru isn't my favourite place in South America (that award goes to Argentina) but there's loads to do and see. I'd strongly recommend Machu Picchu, the Colca Canyon (and Arequipa in general) and also Iquitos for the jungle. However there is a language barrier and its considerably more expensive than SE Asia.

Vietnam and Cambodia aren't my favourite place in SE Asia either, I preferred Myanmar. However again lots to see and do and both countries obviously have recent war torn pasts. The tourism does generally revolve around this. The food is also great.

If you have more specific questions about either place I'm happy to help. It really just comes down to what you want from your holiday.

I don't think North Vietnam has very good weather in November, or Hoi An. Hoi An is lovely, much smaller and more peaceful than Chiang Mai. I love HCM city but some hate it.
