Help! Didn't set reserve price - must I sell?
Comments

If you suspect someone is raising the stakes via a friend, it's quite easy to check the feedback of all those bidding and, if they've been selling, it shows their location. If it's close to the vendor of the auction you're watching, that would ring the alarm bells for me. Could be coincidence of course..... Ultimately, do unto others and all that...0

Thanks everyone - this has been a great help. All my items have now got the minimum 99p bid so I'll just sit tight and hope for the best.0

Minimum reserve is 50, but you can set a starting price of anything you want. A lot of people think "oh, i want at least 25quid for this" and so set a start price of 25quid.
The idea with starting at .99p is that more people notice it and bid and once someone has bidded once on an item they are more likely to bid again on it if they are outbidded, and eventually the price will go up past 25quid. Whereas, if it started at 25quid they wouldnt have thought about bidding.0
