M&S Bank application

I applied on the 30th March and still not there yet. Just been on the phone to them after I had not received anything for nearly 2 weeks after I sent my signature in. They will send it again apparently. Hopefully the pre-paid envelope they sent last time will not be ripped in half as before.
Never experienced any issues opening accounts with any other financial organisation before. This has been painfully slow and to be honest I wish I hadn't bothered.
It does not give me any confidence and it will not be my main account that I will switch to them and will mainly use if for the regular savings account that I also applied for.
Just wait until your 'Belt & Braces' M&S Pass arrives. You can't even log into your account without using it :eek:0 -

I hate the need for HSBC/M&S to use those key fob things with no alternative, even just to login, for online banking!
HSBC does have an alternative, in the form of the smartphone app and digital secure key :cool:0 -
Well the application acceptance did arrive in the morning post eventually, all the way from Chester - about 20 miles away. I may go to Handforth tomorrow to get the whole thing moved along. The letter was dated 30th April. Just how slack are these people?
Anyway, thanks for your moral support. Cross fingers for the full £125 - I understand I have only completed one of my Herculean tasks so far!0 -

You sound local to me! Thats my closest M&S branch, in fact i didn't realise there was an M&S bank at Handforth. Will they be open on a sunday though?0 -

I am able to log in to my HSBC account without the secure key.0 -

Apparently so:

(Hours later....) Went to Handforth and had to wait for the M&S Bank staff as they seemed busy. Looked around for chocolates and water, and nothing. Very disappointing. And they weren't able to help me either, apart from popping my signed forms into their internal mail. I imagine this means they will be lost forever. They did say they couldn't help me because (even though I had the account number) those details weren't on the system. Plodding on...
Apparently the banks mirror the opening hours of the store.0 -

Given M&S are supposed to piggy back on HSBC systems I find their online banking set up very odd. I can fully understand the need for the key to set up new payees - but why (unlike HSBC/FD) do you need the key just to login to check your balance. And no app either?
Surely they could simply change the login to permit balance and transaction checks just on your login and password. I usually just find it easier to go into an HSBC branch and do a mini statement.0 -

It's a nuisance, I agree. I'm quite happy with my digital securekey set up with First Direct and HSBC and would love the same option with M&S. The lack of a proper app adds to my woes. (The 6% Reg Saver helps though.)0 -
