Tuesday 28th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Hi everyone!

It has been a LONG time, I hope you don't mind me starting off the thread today. I'm actually in Australia at the moment, and it's 10am so my day is in full swing.

Trying to get debt free is quite the 'aside' to what's going on in my life at the moment but right now I'm living as an au pair for a family with 4 children in the middle of nowhere in New South Wales and it's actually the best opportunity to try and save up some money.

I don't have to pay for anything here, except for toiletries and my phone bill - but I'm seriously considering knocking that one on the head as I rarely use it.

There are only a handful of things that I manage to get done every day which are DFW. As it's not my house I'm not paying for electricity or water (which we collect!) I'm being PAID $200 a week out here, but obviously the exchange rate isn't that great so I'm trying to work out ways to fix that up.

ANYWAY, enough about me, what am I doing today?

    - FPL
    - GiftHulk
    - GeoLotto
    - OnePoll
    - Clixsense
    - Pureprofile

I'm always on the hunt for ways to boost my income (without using too much bandwidth. We get a 10GB a month allowance with no chance for more!) So if anyone knows of anything (that works in Australia too. :( ) Please, let me know!

Hope you're all looking forward to a Tremendous Tuesday!

  • Morning,
Hoping for another NSD. DS1 wants to go to the park, which is great because it's free and he can spend hours there. I'm going to pack some snacks and drinks though so we don't get tempted by the shops over the road.
Prudence the MSE papier mache piggy bank has been painted blue but DS1 has decided she's a bit plain and wants to give her spots, sparkles and stickers so I guess we'll do that too. I'll try to post a picture of her later when she's done.
Washing out on the line, now I just need to find a way to use up the leftover curry sauce from last night (no chicken left in it). I'll probably freeze it for now. I can always use it to pour over some meat one day as a lunch for one.

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting us off Olliegami.

It is really cold here this morning - thick ice on the old fleece blanket I draped over our potato plants :( Still, I suppose we are lucky, as my cousin's OH (HGV driver) has driven up to Scotland and is not sure he will be able to get back on schedule because of heavy snow. Not sure where our nice weather has gone!

    List for today:
Heating on only in bathroom and airing cupboard, on timer Done, it must be warmer, as I don't seem to want my hot water bottle tonight
Check banks to see if big garage bill has come out yet  Not yet
Shopping delivery this morning. Lots to put away as I have stocked up on store cupboard items that are on offer :)Done, I must have ordered a lot more than I thought
Sort larder out while I am at it Just filled it up even more :o
Hoovering / tidying as I will be looking after baby GD as usual tomorrow Done
    All meals from home Done
Walk later for free exercise Done
Keep an eye on ebay item which has lots of watchers - but a bid would be nice! Still no bids :(
Read book for free entertainment later Off to bed to read it in a minute
Hot water bottle /blanket if cold again this evening, to avoid putting heating on, or lighting the wood burner Not needed tonight, thank goodness!

Feeling a bit meh, not sure why, but an early night is called for I think!

Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Morning all.

Pants night sleep last night and it's going to like it for a little while yet. One of the animals randomly pee'd on our bed at some point yesterday (eeeewwww) - absolutely no idea who or why as none of our animals are like that. Our matress and duvet is ruined. The base (duvan) was due to be replaced when the building work was finished any way as the drawers are breaking so it's forced is to look sooner. Thank goodness I had some savings aside (they were a chunk to pay back to myself for the car I bought and I held onto the money 'in case'

    So, today:

    - Check bank account. Thank goodness I spotted the dodey transaction as they started trying to tear through my account last night - 80odd in Premier Inn, 400odd on Blinkbox, 30 odd somewhere I'd never even heard of... all blocked as Id reported it and my card cancelled - just goes to show!
    - I have my breakfast, lunch and snacks with me for work
    - I need to look for a new bed. I can get one plus matress in Argos for 160 but no idea the quality so need to check it out and compare that to places like Dreams etc. I don't have the spare funds to buy an expensive bed to last but I don't want to buy something duff just because it's cheap. Mind you, duff is better than too much more sofa -sleeping, lol

    Have a good day all

I suppose Tuesday is a bog standard day for everyone.

Ally you're so close to being Debt Free!! How exciting is that!?

Dawn I hope the rest of the day warms up for you, good job you got a blanket out on those tatoes.

twiggy wouldn't it be cool to just grab new ideas out of nowhere that are just perfect? I get sad when I've done 'everything' I possibly can and there's nothing left to do! :(
