British Airways now American Airlines

Hi there

We have a flight booked for this new york, and when booked through the agent it was understood it was to be a British Airways flight. However when the confirmation came through the actual airline is American Airlines (operated by British Airways). Have just checked the plane out and its an old boeing 767, with 80s style seating and entertainment (no on demand, shared screen) Is this right, do I have any rights for complain as I was expecting a BA plane

Thanks,

If the flight is operated by BA as you state, you will be on a BA aircraft.

I've flown transatlantic a few times with BA/AA and always have a seat back TV.

My only complaint is the seat pitch is rubbish even with an upgrade to extra legroom and they always run out of decent food and you end up with vegetarian pasta for dinner! Oh and they don't do a nut free meal but they will do one for pretty much everything else. They gave the person beside me a bowl of muesli knowing that I have anaphylactic response to nuts and then wondered why my other half went mental.

BA do operate 767s and they have seat back entertainment. Are you sure you weren't looking at one of the domestic layouts?

Probably a BA codeshare operated by AA.

    Where are you flying from.

If anywhere other than Heathrow, then probably AA

What is the flight number? That's the easiest way to find out who is operating the flight.

    If it's a 4 figure flight number eg AA1234 (rather than 3 digits AA123) - it's a BA operated flight .

So you expect an airline to pander to you and make sure there are no nut products on board and that no one on the flight has any on them either??
Good job you didn't try flying with AA, they would have offloaded you
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I've been on numerous flights where the airline has done exactly that, you do realise that it's a very serious problem for some people, what's the lesser inconvenience not eating any nuts or having the plane diverted mid flight due to someone requiring urgent medical attention.

What does seatguru http://www.seatguru.com/findseatmap/findseatmap.php say about the aircraft when you put your flight details in.

BA has a variety of b767s in differing configurations.
