International driving license

Is it the norm for car hire companies in Vegas to ask for an international driving license? Mine is a new photocard, but OH still has a paper one.

No, a normal uk licence is fine
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Be sure to have your passport with you as well...at least some of the rental car agencies will want that + your UK licence (Dollar at TI has for the last few years).

Going shortly, and it just occured to me that I might need international license, panic...Whole idea of the visit is a road trip to visit relatives, so starting in Vegas for a few days, then moving around the southwest for a couple of weeks. Hence, both driving, and would hate to get there only for a silly detail like that to ruin things. Hell hath no fury compared to a woman whose husband is a p--s poor planner!!!

An international driving permit issued in the UK is just a translation of your driving licence into French, Arabic and various other languages, you should only need one if you go to a country that doesn't speak English.

UK and USA have a reciprocal agreement for holidaymakers so your current full licences are fine but agree they will want to see both passports too at pick up.

Lots of tips on the Vegas thread about this kind of touring trip if you want to check his planning.

Last time we were in the States, they wouldn't let us add my wife as second driver because she had an old style driving licence even with her passport, they required a photocard licence and the paper record.
