New tv and Sky

My problem is sorted, but in case it helps anyone:
On installing our new tv, everything worked, except Sky. Switching on the box , unlike with the old tv (same brand) had no effect on the screen and selecting the HDMI channel via the AV button just gave a blank black screen.
However, when tried back on the old set Sky worked perfectly.
The dealer suggested switching off Viera link on the new tv (Panasonic 650) and now Sky works.
The only problem is that instead of just switching Sky on and off to go between Sky and Freeview, it is necessary to use the AV button to switch on Sky and TV to access Freeview on switching off Sky.
