Gas Safe
Options
Not sure if this is the correct forum but if not perhaps someone can direct me to the right one.
I lodged a complaint with Gas Safe regarding the installation of my boiler by a Gas Safe registered engineer. The Gas Safe Inspector inspected the installation and provided a Report listing the defects and I was notified that the installing engineer had one month to put right the defects. The engineer denied installing the boiler and Gas Safe asked me to provide proof. I provided an Invoice for the work from the business concerned, the benchmark Certificate signed by the business concerned and numerous other pieces of evidence. Gas Safe have agreed that the evidence provided proves that the engineer carried out the installation but because the engineer has denied it they can take no further action and consider the matter closed.
As a consequence that voids my warranty with the makers of the boiler.
How can an organisation set up to protect the consumer accept that the verbal denial of an engineer carries more weight than all the indisputable evidence I have provided?
Anybody have any idea what I can do next? Is there anybody I can report Gas Safe to? I don't know where to go from here

Take a civil action against the RGI for the cost of an equivalent third party warranty via the small claims process.
I don't understand how he can deny installing it if his name is all over the paperwork-is he suggesting you have forged the documents and invoice?
What is the manufacturer's take on this situation? No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Gas Safe are there to make money out of registering installers..thats about it. GSR registration is no guarantee of knowledge, skills ,safety or a quality job.,Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

How much would it cost to put the installation right? If you can fix it and keep the manufacturer's warranty then that seems the best way to go. A third party warranty on a badly installed boiler will never be an adequate replacement.0

Well, I'm afraid I'm not accepting their response.
I've provided to Gas Safe the Invoice for the work, the benchmark certificate, the boiler commission certificate, the gas safety certificate, all quoting his name and Gas Safe Register number. Why do they accept his unsubstantiated denials rather then my documentary proof?
Have sent an e-mail to the Chief Executive to investigate the matter - lets see where that gets me....0 -
Because i dont know all the faults and the nature of them, it might be worth looking at lodging a RIDDOR report,money.....gimmie gimmie gimmie!!!!0

I know this may be a little obvious but have you looked on the Gas Safe website and checked to see if the installers picture matches the guy you had at your home?0

Get somebody competent in to rectify the work, then take the installer to small claims for the costsJe suis sabot...0

I did ask the OP is post 2 on what basis the RGI is denying that he did the install, in the face of the documented evidence that he did. Is he claiming that someone else is using his ID?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
