24 Hours x NMW for Self Employed - Implemented or Not?

  • My Local Authorities Local Council Tax Support scheme assumes the National Minimum Wage for self employed. So all the 'bogus' self employed who claim to work 40 hours but earn nothing are now finding their claim is based on 40 hours x NMW. However this is also being used for the genuine self employed so if they make a small profit or even a loss their income is being calculated by the number of hours claimed to have worked x NMW. Lots of very unhappy self employed but a massive reduction in help being paid out.
These are my own views and you should seek advice from your local Benefits Department or CAB.

However If you can afford to go on holiday for two weeks why should you get benefits? They are to help the poor and needy.

As for employees getting paid sick, not all do I don't get paid for the first 3 days by witch time you will be better.

And if I was self employed I would expect NMW or I would get a proper job.

That's more of an employee v self employed argument, ie 90% of the employed get paid Bank Holidays. As for sick pay, lots of employees sadly don't receive any in their first year, but that's discretionary.
Please be polite to OPs and remember this is a site for Claimants and Appellants to seek redress against their bank, ex-boss or retailer. If they wanted morality or the view of the IoD or Bank they'd ask them.

Being off work on holiday doesn't mean you have to go away on holiday though. Genuine self employed people are just as in need of a break from work as employed people.
Here I go again on my own....
