I never asked but I wonder whether there are mascara "samples" you can get. Have a look at on Ebay too - sometimes you will find for cheap , just be careful to avoid dupes.ally.0 -

This is what I buy. The sample sizes that you normally get as a free gift. I check the feedback before buying and in the past 5 yrs that I have been getting them, they have all been genuine.0 -
I've seen this on social media.
Is it water/smudge proof?
It's water resistant which means as long as you don't rub your eyes when they are wet you are fine. I actually got caught in a downpour yesterday and my lashes looked as good as they did before I left the house; shame about the rest of me
If you rub your eyes, then yes it does smudge but I've never used a mascara that doesn't. It comes off easier than any other mascara I've used too, I only have to wash my face once :rotfl:0 -
Lancome hypnose the doll eyes is fab. You can often buy them cheaper in a pack of two. I have also used the doll eyes brush in cheaper mascara when caught short to good effect.
I would be wary of buying on ebay to test as mascara dries out and you never knows how old they are. I have the consultant remove any make up and try the tester in store and then see how it lasts and washes off. My lashes used to be very short and sparse and no mascara ever made my lashes look anything other than darker.
However for quite a few months now I have been using Revitalash and now have some decent length eyelashes. Still sparse, but that can be rectified with mascara.

You get a 14 day guarantee with Younique's so you can always sent it back if you aren't happy...it's almost as good as a free sample
I know what you mean about bought and binned; I bought some new foundation at the end of last year. First time I put it on it was wonderful but now I'm so too keen on it so want to hurry and finish the bottle so I can swap it out...I hate wasting money so it'll all get used.0 -
it depends what look you like! if i'm just having a day to day office look i will opt for the laura mercier mascara as it its light weight but still makes your eyes pop.0

Eyeko mascara really makes my lashes look dramatic but could be a bit much for day wear for some people. I like Llamasqua also. Clinique, despite being hypoallergenic, makes my eyes stream. I tend to avoid cheaper mascaras because I want hypoallergenic.0

I use the maybelline New York the falsies volum' express. I swear by it. You can find it anywhere, it's waterproof and it gives you the full look without having to add false lashes. I'm sure you'd love it.0

I bought a sample size of Benefit roller lash mascara. It seems decent, just got to get used to the curved wand.
Will give other recommendations a try too. Going to try and pick up some more sample sizes if I can.
I'm not to fond of big brushes. Although my eyelashes have decent length they are still relatively sparse and I find a big brush just that bit too much.
I'm also quite rubbish at applying mascara even though I wear it pretty much everyday and am even worse at using eyelash curlers lol. I have a lovely natural curl on one eye, yet the lashes on my other eye grow all over the place and are hard to get into the curler.0
